  1. Agree the mix for me was really well selected, yeah now and then got stuck behind a alower rider but that is par of the course as not all rider pace themselves through the full route. Lucky for me where I did ask to pass they always moved out of the way. Also smashed sub 4 which was my goal ... irrespective of the bit shorter route
  2. Ok THAT was sooooooo much fun. Parking - the best ever experience at a mtb race of this size (ok not talking about the thorns) Route markings - very clear Finish area - enough shade (if it was needed) enough food and drinks Route - very enjoyable and glad to see that it is recovering well but did still make me sad seeing the burnt stumps Marshalls - all friendly
  3. Good luck to all riding tomorrow
  4. Also not sure if some of the Charities might still have entries available
  5. Hope you get some news, seems that http://seeding.cycletour.co.za/riderseeding.aspx does not get updated with the Tour De PPA, so must be somewhere else in the background that they reseeded riders
  6. Possible, as we are PPA members
  7. My wife got a new seeding because of the Tour de PPA, so it is already in the system I think.
  8. No worries, seems that PPA / Racetec did it automatically, got a new seeding for the CTCT
  9. Any formal news on re-seeding, do we wait till registration or can we already engage with Racetec?
  10. Well for me and the wife it was a good day, and her seeding improved by 17 points So do we query her CTCT seeding now already, or wait for the registration?
  11. Just a shame that there are less and less riders participating, but I know the reasons have been discussed here multiple times over and over.
  12. I think he means 12 hours 38 minutes
  13. It will be very windy on the day and half way through the day the wind will switch from South to North
  14. Was sort of my thinking too about the group sizes. The only viable answer (seeing as you cant really rely on all cyclists to stick to the rules of it will disadvantages them.. ie stuck behind a dead wheel). Is for more limits on the first few group on their size and time space.
  15. So my question, why at certain points did the groups again not only cross the white line but nearly crossed the yellow line on the other side of the road Groups that got to big? Riders apathy? Fear of being dropped especially around corners? Or not consequences of being penalised ?
  16. All thanks to the bold racers that decided that it is there right to cross the white line
  17. Forgot to mention, the size of the groups really seems to have worked well
  18. Me and my son thoroughly enjoyed the race - The parking was a breeze and the marshalls quickly made sure that all the cars got a spot (helped by some people that probably bailed) - bonus of being so close to the presentation area - Smooth process to get to the start - More than enough marshalls at the venue and on route (can't talk about how they acted to keep everyone in line, but from my vantage point all the front groups had either one or two bikes / vehicles shadowing them. - The weather was perfect with one a bit of rain at the start and end to keep it nice and cool The few areas of improvements was not of such a nature that they impacted on our enjoyment. In short, thank you very much Paarl Rotary and Bouckaert-Soenen for organising.
  19. Where do you see the group sizes ?
  20. This sounds like a good thing, smaller groups (or is this only a good thing if you work on the assumption that the riders are correctly seeded)
  21. Have you signed him up as PPA family member, if so it wont be right at the back. And also would suggest after you get your seeding, of course ideally sign the two of you up for the next sportif, which might also help as it will give him at least some kind of seeding
  22. And sparked some side threads too
  23. From the early route maps it looks the same, not sure if they will tweak anywhere But I stand to be corrected
  24. Th thread this year feels much more subdued than previous years this time around, or is that just me blocking a bad experiences. Either be a sign that people are maturing or that people are just not caring anymore
  25. That is a D-bike, which is still allowed the same as a S-Bike (son at the back), W-Bike (wife at the back)... sorry no E-bike (ex gf at the back) allowed
