  1. Same thing happened to me at the start of the year with Kulula.com. However they did pay out a small sum in the end. My frame wasn't compromised but its got a nasty gash on the side. Have pm'd you some details on the process i followed.
  2. I know Frank Adrian and he's an absolute demon on and offroad. Just take a look at his Argus time. He's from Namibia so has not got many local results yet.
  3. Some more from Table Mountain:
  4. so i went yesterday to buy the silverback phoenix but it turned out that they didn't have it in my size. I then had a look at the other bikes they had on offer and found a Giant Terrago. Turns out I bought it and am now a proud new owner. Took it out this morning onto the mountain and it handled beautifully. Thanks for all the suggestions guys
  5. so i think i'm going to go for the phoenix as its value for money, its a 27 speed with deore components. @charvel: where do i get a phoenix for just over R5000?
  6. Unfortunately i'm in CPT so looks like i should check out some more bike shops.
  7. Silverbackman, where do I find a phoenix for R5500. the cheapest I've found was just over R6000.
  8. just read the thread and am also in the market now for a new silverback phoenix. I'm thinking its a great buy because its got Deore components. I'm also looking at a Merida tfs xc 100-d but it has alivio components. how do they compare to deore?
  9. Yeah I read that' date=' but I seem to recall you posting previously about working out your seeding yourself? How is that possible if the PPA has an "automated process" to determine that "beta"?[/quote'] you can replicate the process yourself, i'm not sure though why it would take so long as it should happen automatically. therefore we should get regular seeding updates... Woofie, I recall last year after I spoke to ppa/racetec that it is one of the problems that you get stuck in F group after while. Hence why the F and G groups are so strong consistently and often outperform E and D. You'd probably have to be manually reseeded if you wanted to ride league.
  10. so i looked at the Silverback Phoenix today and the the merida tfs xc 100-d. has anyone got any reviews about these bikes? they were about R6000.
  11. anyone else got advice on bikes i should look at?
  12. read the PPA website: it says that the beta and adjusted winners time are calculated by an automated process where a regression is done between the specific race times and the base race.
  13. the winning times are adjusted.... usually made better so your index becomes worse
  14. Its amazing how on Cyclelab's seeding i got a index of 14 for the 99er but PPA gives me 21. Even though its the best race I've ever done...
  15. i wish i could see mine aswell. Maybe it takes time to update everyone...
  16. thanks, yeah i think i'm first going to look around thoroughly before i buy. just want to sort of orientate myself in whats available and what's a good buy.
  17. Hi So i've been cycling for over a year now, started on a entry level mtb, sold it and bought a road racer. I've really enjoyed the competitive aspect of road riding and done all the races. I'm now thinking of taking up mtb'ing as well. What kind of a new mtb should I be looking at? From what people have told me, disk brakes are a must. I'm not phased about the weight or brand, etc. At this point my budget is about R5000.
  18. maybe as members we should start pushing a bit for some winter road events and bring back the time trials. Club 100 usually does a TT series towards the end of winter.
  19. PPA is gonna have serious problems as most people wanted to be reseeded before the race this saturday. Does that also mean the this weekend's race will also be included in the seeding run?
  20. does that mean that the argus didn't turn out to be such a good event. its obviously messing with the old system and not working out correctly.
  21. its a few calculations that are done. and all results are stored in a database at racetec. the PPA website then reads them out for you. you can get seedings even for people that aren't a member of PPA
  22. it says the seeding run takes place today so it'll be up by tomorrow
  23. does that mean he was riding on a freeway?
