  1. anyone have any advice on how many months training this would require. I'd like to do Ironman eventually but this is local and more accessible to me. I'm a highly competent swimmer and cyclist. Its the running that would need most of the attention as I'm not used to the distance.
  2. it used to but they've changed the app. The app is still connected to the net though as it downloads maps as you move.
  3. i would say I was slow. It was the hardest MTB race I've ever done. The winner finished 90 min before me.
  4. i've done a 5 hour ride before with nokia sports tracker and my phone was still alive afterwards
  5. I can really recommend the edge 500 if you're going for a garmin. I've used mine now for a month and its worked perfectly. You can transfer the data online or into your favourite software (I'm using Sport Tracks). It came with all the necessary sensors (speed and cadence) and has user changeable batteries for the components.
  6. any idea where to to get the book locally in a store?
  7. I just calculated my Edington number to be 55
  8. - Malmesbury race in 2 weeks - Lots of mountain biking - Varsity champs in Joburg in July
  9. its strange that you can't see past the first page of results for each group.
  10. Each group has an exact start time. When you start and cross the first mats, they log your chip and now know in which group you started. When you finish the race they get your finishing time based on the exact start time of your group.
  11. I finally got it! Was at the top of suikerbossie with very little time to spare and paced as hard as I could all the way down and through Camps Bay. Finished in a time of about 2:57 - 2:58. Boyes drive definitely made the race harder!
  12. so what was your power to weight ratio for the race?
  13. I wish. Joking with shnavel coz he trains with us quite often. Hopefully all the training pays off this weekend. Good luck
  14. thanks for the tip. I'm just interested in scaling my old courses to work with my new edge 500
  15. how do you scale the time in sport tracks. can't seem to get it to work. when i export from sport tracks as gpx file it seems to retain the time based on the data. thanks
  16. Just map it out on mapmyride and set the speed to 36.6 kph. that should give you a sub 3. Maybe set it to 37km/h so you've got some extra time. Then you can use garmin training center to add the waypoints
  17. I ordered on a monday 2 weeks ago, paid via credit card and i picked up the package at DHL on Wednesday afternoon (i didn't want to wait till Thurs morning). No hassles. Great service and prices!
  18. Great ride today with about 24 people in total. Just got home and its 37 degrees outside. Glad i'm done for the day. Here's a link to the ride if anyone's interested: http://connect.garmin.com/activity/71293389
  19. I'm riding there and back as well so maybe I should ask if i'll be able to manage 30km extra....
  20. tomorrow's ride mapped out: http://www.mapmyride.com/routes/view/29098850

  22. have a look at the route we took on the last hub ride: http://www.sports-tracker.com/#/workout/NiklasVonMaltzahn/bvhj7i3eibha2qke
  23. From greenpoint, make your way into town. get to adderly, turn right onto Adderly and left past the station. Go past the Goodhope centre (on your right) and follow the road through woodstock, it becomes liesbeek parkway after you pass under the N2. Carry on until you can turn into campground road, go past the stadium. Straight at the robots. Keep straight until you get to a circle. Go left and at the next robot turn right into Bowwood Drive. All the way to the top of the road you get to the M3. Turn left and climb to the top of Wynberg hill. Then hang a left and take the Travato Link exit. Follow that road keeping right and go down Alphen hill road to turn right into Constantia Main road. Next follow the road under the freeway and turn after 2 robots into Spaanchemat road. Follow this road through Bergvliet and Tokai. You'll eventually end up on main road (which is on the argus route).
