  1. Its very sad. I got knocked yesterday luckily at low speed and repairs will be done it time for argus. I heard on KFM that the driver was under the influence of alcohol
  2. Its probably so that he doesn't get harrassed by riders in lower groups. Imagine how big the pelaton would be if he rode in one of the middle groups. I don't think he'll stick around much at the finish either.
  3. definitely argus. lance is gonna ride and finish with the giro group and immediately leave the finish and go back to his hotel. no one is going to see him
  4. First of all my sincere condolences to the family. Its so sad to read about the attitudes that some people have. Its definitely a South African thing. Like others have said, overseas you don't see problems like this. Do some people purposefully write on forums just to argue like this?
  5. I have yet to get one of those due to them being so expensive. I haven't ridden that much in the dark though and when i have I have never ridden on the front of the group. Apart from making yourself visible they really useful for avoiding potholes and glass.
  6. saw a headline about a cycling law being mooted in today's Cape Argus. Did anyone read it?
  7. Do you think that the pace in the argus is going to be ridiculous compared to other races over boyes drive because i've found all the races i've done that go over that route, the bunch really takes it easy and doesn't go that hard. i mean maybe thats just to save energy for later on in the race. Last year I rode in group OG so I had no one to work with and ended up going past most people. This year starting in E so its a completely different ball game. How would people that did sunday's race say the pace compares to what they've done in previous Argus's. Is it a lot harder due to the fact that its such a big event and most people train for it? What would the advice be, to go hard from the start or to try and save energy for the last 30km. I'm very comfortable with the distance.
  8. In 2008 Argus, the last group to have people doing sub 3's was Group I. Obviously since Boyes Drive was introduced this will change but if you're in a group closer to the front, you have a good chance. I think the groups have also been made smaller.niklasvm2010-02-27 00:39:02
  9. Sorry i really have no idea. maybe try and go onto the cycle tour site and click on the link and download
  10. i managed to use the sheet without a password
  11. http://www.cycletour.co.za/splittime/SplitTimeCalc.xls
  12. saw a cyclist dressed in full racing kit riding on the M5 at the N2 offramp today. Hooted at him as a warning that i was approaching and all he did was smile and wave, no care in the world.
  13. Well thats good news i guess. Should maybe take the splits now and start practicing on the route.
  14. i like it how for the sub 3 splits you have to climb Chapmans peak at 31km/h. I also think that you'll be able to ride faster down Suikerbossie to the end. Looks like i'll have to if Boyes drive hasn't been taken into account.
  15. does this calculator include boyes drive?
  16. during that time of the year, there's going to be hundreds of cyclists on the road anyway so whether you're alone or not doesn't make a difference safety wise. The only places that you should be careful of are in town. and look out for traffic
  17. does it help at all to report an incident like this?
  18. After my experience with the baggage handlers, I'm never flying my bicycle on a plane again. Regardless of which airline it is, the bags all get handled by the same guys at the airport
  19. I must say, last year on the day before the DC, my bike fell and my jockey hanger got bent. I dropped it off at BMC and before i got home they called me to say it had been fixed. Only had good service from them.
  20. is that the arm under the wheel in the one shot?
  21. How do you manage to do it? I once did 240km in a weekend and I took days to recover!
  22. Looks quite interesting. What would it cost for the course?
  23. Will be at Killarney this week and come check it out. I used some cytomax in the double century last year which a team mate gave me. Have otherwise always only trained and raced on water and energade. Are you going to have some free samples?
