  1. a tip a friend once gave me: if you puncture more than once on a ride and quite often, buy a new tyre (gatorskins work the best i've found). Also always make sure you've pumped your road tyre to the max pressure.
  2. i stay in the southern suburbs area and regularly ride the routes that are covered in the argus. Wind isn't too bad usually. In the last 3 days its been hell though but its a good training ride. Otherwise do the Rollercoaster this weekend and you'll ride around Cape Point and over Slangkop.
  3. In a race I'll carry 2 tubes, 2 bombs, levers and pump. If you puncture a 3rd time in a road race its pretty much game over.
  4. Is it only on a mtn bike that your chain lasts for 2000km or also road bike? I've probably done about 6000km now on my chain, I lube it like once a week or before a race.
  5. I'm thinking i might do 99er and 3 passes funride if I'm up to it on the sunday. will be brilliant training
  6. I think people are questioning how he got to ride league without having an A - D PPA seeding.
  7. Don't you need like a A - D seeding with PPA to ride league?
  8. How the heck does that work?
  9. Good thing that there's a lot of hills in the Rollercoaster this weekend then. It'll be a good training ride.
  10. After yesterday's race i think i'll be strong enough for a sub 3, apparently it was the same amount of climbing as argus will be.
  11. Thanks, let us know if they respond.
  12. Great pics.
  13. ? Now you got to do the training to go with that good seeding. Already started and doing well so far.
  14. How has everyone been doing on the program. Must admit i signed up but haven't done anything on it yet.
  15. I'm a student using my time before lectures start as best as I can. I should be ready for a sub 3, I haven't really had the exposure to the massive argus groups. Last year i rode in an open group so had no sense of structure, just lots of people walking up every hill etc.
  16. I think the concern that some of us have is that in previous years, boyes drive wasn't included. In 2008 (a representative year) 127 E group riders did a sub 3 but it'll probably be less with the extra hill.
  17. Thanks, i have been getting up early to ride and thus skimping out on my sleeping. I find i can't sleep after rides, my heart rate's too fast and my body stays too active.
  18. Good ride today. Thanks guys
  19. Is it true that if you race every weekend and do one hard ride in the week, all your other rides end up being recovery sessions?
  20. i agree, definitely gonna concentrate more on that.
  21. Thanks i'll try that. I think one of the main problems is I trained loads of hills last week and then overexerted myself on the cape cobra on sunday. Nutrition is probably also a factor.
  22. Will do. Boyes drive shouldn't add too much time on. And remember it does also have a couple of downhills.
  23. Me 2! We going to have to work hard for our sub 3.
  24. I'm quite happy from last years start in OG to this year's E
  25. Hi, recently started training again about 2 weeks ago. Last week was quite a hard week (14 hours) on the bike and this week i'm really suffering. My heart rate doesn't want to go up to its usual heights and i'm feeling tired everyday. This morning i had my first ride though where i felt more energetic (heart rate still struggled though) Any advice?
