  1. Eish, but this she is an old topic. I view it in a more basic way. In SA their is a limited regard for rules and laws, pretty much from the top down. Therefore when riding or driving one should think survival rather than right or wrong. Riding 4 or 5 a breast (I like that phrase; just not applied to cycling) and showing dissenting car, bus and lorry drivers the finger is like a monkey teasing a lion or crocodile. One day something will go wrong and Mr Monkey (or one of his maatjies) will ***. The law and rules are of largely theoretical importance to Mr Monkeys mourning relatives. It's a great pity, but that's the way it is. I sympathise with Lucky Luke; I took my daughter from the beach front in Durbs to Umhlanga Rocks and back; hugely stressful little ride - never again; to the MTB we went.
  2. Um, no more Alfie Cox in Pinetown, you'll have to haul out to Cato Ridge. RBS close to Alfie's old shop in Pinetown might just help you.
  3. Saw something interesting today - a roadie on the N3 between the two "one stops" at Cato Ridge at around 11 am. He was heading towards Durbs on the hill within about 500m of the BP service station on the opposite side. For the HIll2Hillers - Bartletts on the right looking towards Durban. I was on (Katoom mounted not pedal cycle) the overpass for the gravel road that crosses the N3 after the Hill2Hill turnoff down along the old railway line and specifically stopped to make sure I wasn't seeing things. No following cars etc so I don't know what he was doing. He could easily end up as a hood ornament on a timber truck.
  4. From SA 4x4 community forum. Little new. http://www.4x4community.co.za/forum/showthread.php?t=97835
  5. Great news. I'm certainly available. Have been weighing up trying to get to Jhb for a course for some time.
  6. What a tragedy and condolences to all directly affected by it. There is another way cyclists can make a positive contribution. Quite a few are aggressive drivers (maybe its the competitive instinct). Become btter drivers. More tolerant, couteous, careful and patient. Every little bit helps.
  7. Jammer manne - die *** spat alweer. Not a pleasant 1st post: http://www.wilddog.za.net/forum/index.php?topic=44974.0 Now back to my hole and training for sani2c.
