  1. Yes I want to enter the Kalahari challenge. Have upped my training. Not sure on a partner yet, why you ask kranswurm?
  2. My uncle is looking for 2 sets of mtb wheels. This will be used on road with slicks and should be tubeless. He and his wife are funriders and looking for some lightweight wheels. Will mostly be used for riding the argus, 94.7 and some weekend rides. He is tired of changing the tyres everytime. Something in the xt range. Are there any lightweight mtb wheels spesifically for road use.
  3. I have used the glueless patches, but they don't seem to work really well
  4. RS200 and delphi 5
  5. You'll pass through some townships. Not implying anything, but ... Definetly stay off the road. Road is narrow and lots of trucks. I drove the road once with my car to avoid tollgates etc, but never again
  6. I'm very hapy with mine. Agents in Midrand are really good. My polar is more than 3 years old and took it for battery replacement Okt last year and they replaced my strap free of charge. Also had a problem with the watch resetting about 4 times a year and they replaced all the insides free of charge in Jan this year. All this and I only had a 2 year gaurentee. Watch was bought in Hong Kong.
  7. Obviously the torque stays the same. Force x Distance Who has mechanical engineering software to run a simulation for us?
  8. I wonder if Julius M. died because of aids and someone mentioned unprotected sex, if we'd have a similar thread. Just saying.
  9. So, EPIC FAIL.
  10. What's your take on these? http://cgi.ebay.com/NO-UPPER-DEAD-POINT-POWER-CURVED-CRANKSET-TURBO-CRANK_W0QQitemZ270547805998QQcmdZViewItemQQptZCycling_Parts_Accessories?hash=item3efde7e72e
  11. Are there any advantages to these integrated bar stem combo's?
  12. This is how it went: https://www.bikehub.co.za/forum_posts.asp?TID=80149&KW=customs
  13. My opinion. Take it or leave it. Train on mtb and road. With road you can do hills, tempo rides, intervals. With mtb you can do a normal longish ride where you train on technical areas. Like bikemonster said. Concentrate on your weekness. If you suck on technical hills, ride terain with a lot of technical hills. Don't know if you still ride both, but roadbike will cover all the fitness aspects and all that's left is your technical abillity on the mtb. That's what I do.
  14. I'll be doing it this weekend maybe. Got the olives and thanks to johan now I've got a guide.
  15. They are awesome. Even my non-cycling friends love them.
  16. I already do it on my mtb. SRAM all the way with xt casette. The shimano casette is only for training as the roads in centurion are killing my nice campag wheels. Don't mind wasting some shimano wheels
  17. Don't have that problem. Try to adjust them a bit. I adjust mine almost weekly before rides. Not great advice, but can't think of anything else.
  18. Is it possible to use a 10sp shimano casette with a 10sp campag groupset. I'm looking for wheels and can get shimano wheels.
  19. 3:40 from J group. Had a tribracket that broke halfway and lost my bunch, so had to ride alone from there. My legs have never felt so sore after trying to catch the bunch after I stopped.
  20. I have heard from several guys from thule not to use a hanging rack for carbon frames and only use the standing types. I know of people that use the hanging type for carbon mtb's. I am looking for a new bike rack and have carbon mtb and road. I will easily use the mtb on a hanging rack, but not sure about my roadbike. Just get some bungy cordes and secure the bike.
  21. Epic Sports is good, but a bit more mtb spesific. They have however given me good advice on road bikes. Must say however that the first question I would ask is also to know what your budget is. You have to work from there. Then tell them what the purpose of the bike is. Cycle lab, Centurion have also given me great advice on buying a road bike. The guy was very informative and he measured me to give the correct sizing.
  22. I?m thinking of doing my first stage race, the SUBARU KALAHARI CHALLENGE in July.<?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><?: PREFIX = O /> I?m not planning to win the race, but I want to race and not just do it for the fun. What tips can you give me with regards to stage racing? What supplements? Type of training? do's and don'ts etc? I do eat healthy. Lots of fruits and veggies. I ride road and mtb. (about 140-200km per week at the moment plus some running)
  23. Ok, that's a start. No alcohol between stages.
