  1. So I'll be getting a few tyres. I see continental has supersonic and protection versions. Which would be recommended for a lightweight tubeless setup? My weight is around 68kg and this is for xc/marathon riding. What does the protection mean - Is it a thicker sidewall?
  2. The iPod attachment(iTrip) has been available in SA for a few years. I just bought an iPod touch from ebay for almost R1000 cheaper. You would be able to get it for even less.
  3. I decided to screw it all and go for this: http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-AEROZINE-X-12-SL-A2-CRANKSET-CRANK-DOUBLE-9-SPD-/390165209522?cmd=ViewItem&pt=Cycling_Parts_Accessories&hash=item5ad7a8a1b2 Ordered it this weekend.
  4. I'll wear my pb, even if it doesn't work. So what, if I paid a few houndred for a bracelet. People spend lots more on other sh!t that's not worth it. As long as they're happy.
  5. Yip. Sias is correct. Your legs are too "tired" to work hard enough for your hr to go up.
  6. Don't know how you're going to access the tube(I assume you mean frame tube and not tyre tube). Seatpost, or even stem would be a nice place to hide, but if it's metal it could interfere with gps signal. The device will also need to be recharged from time to time, so stem would be too much of a hassle. Lets get high tech and build it into hubs, like a powertap. Then it can be recharged with magnetic induction.
  7. I don't think I'll trash the brakes if someone has a gun pointed at me. What if it just angers him and he starts shooting
  8. When I aproach dodgy areas or people I usually get it ready. I use the ones from YALE Security with the vecrom stram. It is strapped onto my stem for easy removal
  9. http://periodic.phonelocator.mobi/ does not work with blackberry storm. Just tried it. There are however similar programs available, but as mentioned it's not the ideal tracker.
  10. I actually like that feature. When I'm racing on the flats, I just lock the shock and it still absorbs the smaller bumps or when you hit a downhill and you forgot to lockout, this can be a lifesaver.
  11. Yip. There is still some travel. Mine is the same. I'm not an expert on this, but I think that travel is controled with your floodgate(Something that can be adjusted on the fork at the lockout)
  12. Thought about making my own a few months ago, but havn't got around doing it. Maybe I should make a prototype
  13. If by post, you meen steerer then no steerer has a thread. The star nut you see in pic on the left is forced in there. To install such a starnut, you thread the bolt into the nut and wack it with a hammer in there.
  14. Don't know. When I still used bar ends, I used them on my risers. I think it gives you a too upright position and makes you look like a funrider, because you're not in a racing position. That's if you buy into the whole "look" thing
  15. Here's some of the unwritten rules(like roadies have): 1. No bar ends on a riser bar 2. No alluminium cages on a carbon bike 3. No saddlebag on a pretty bike 4. Remove all the reflectors 5. Don't use a camelback on rides shorter than 4hours Or is all of this bullsh!t
  16. I think he means UST tyres because of their weight

Get a threadless headset. They have sealed bearings. Have a look on wikipedia for how they look
  18. Won't the other people in the office laugh at me if I use it? I had one while still at varsity, but it exploded.
  19. I liked my nevegals when I was riding in stellenbosch. But the sb8 has better rolling resistance. I would suggets nevegal up front and sb8 at the rear if you'd like to try Kenda
  20. ditto. 3years and going strong
  21. That one is a good choice at a good price.
  22. He used a powerbalance
  23. I'll be using kenda nevagals ust
  24. Everything should be 8sp
