  1. How did you do ww?
  2. Thanks guys. I did what Johan suggested earlier this afternoon. I did it alone, as no-one was home. One hand to pump fluid and the other to suck oil at the reservoir. I removed all the bubbles this way, however my brakes are still soft. I can pull them onto the handlebar, but they were that way from the day I bought them. They still brake when they're supposed to, so that's fine.
  3. Where can I find mineral oil for my disk brakes? Seems like the lbs's don't stock them. One shop offered to sell me a bottle for R35 with enough oil to bleed one brake. I can order from crc, but I'd like to have it as soon as possible.
  4. Johan, ek sou, maar my fiets sit in centurion. Bietjie ver van jou af. Ek wil na een van jou kursusse ook kom, as ek net 'n naweek bietjie af het.
  5. Bottlenecks need to get sorted with seeding. And they should start implementing it.
  6. Cool. Hopefully I can find a syringe somewhere this afternoon
  7. I also don't like it when race distance is inaccurate. Don't mind it though. If you're looking for a nice event, do babbas lodge this weekend. It's one of my favourites. It's on once a month
  8. I shortend my hoses this weekend, so I need to get rid of air bubbles.
  9. I need to bleed my xt brakes, but I see there are two methods. 1. Syringe connected at bleed nipple and inject oil through the system 2. Open bleed nipple and top-up reservoir with mineral oil Can any one of these methods be used? I did method 2 yesterday, but didn't seem to work all that great.
  10. It's in Rivonia/Paulshof area next to the N1. All just singletrack with some jumps, high bridge/pathways, bmx course etc. Real nice place for some technical training.
  11. Anyone else forgot to unlock their forks at the last downhills of the 85km? When I came to the section where whe merged with the 35km track again, I could finally look down and saw that I forgot to unlock. So I basically rode without any suspension and I went past guys on their duallies. Hectic stuff. Can feel it on my kidneys and wrists.
  12. Nope, didn't see anything sorry. Will also be back next year. Just train a bit more next time. Can anyone please post the race profile?

  14. Ja die toilette was bietjie skandelik. Het my forseer om in bossies te gaan ... Die start en eerste paar kilos was chaos
  15. Today was my second race of more than 40km. After about 40km I thought what a nice semi flat fast race. Then the sh!t started. Got my famous backpain that left me walking a bit and stretching and suffering and ... So when my speedometer said about 4km left I thought almost done as I went downhill. Then wtf... Hills with more hills. Couldn't ride anymore, so I pushed the bike for probably 12min Finished the race with my computer saying 84.5km in 4:21 Was moerse rof
  16. Took a couple of snaps at the Waterfront after the race: Ok, most of you have seen this guy. Can't remember his name, but he's not too bad. Saw him the first time at Dischem ride4sight earlier this year.
  17. Tuna is lekker. I used to eat 1-2 cans a day for almost more than a year and I still like tuna.
  18. Tuna recipes: Mix tuna with those "tomatoe and onion mix" cans. It's actually not too bad. Mix tuna with lemon and black pepper. Try those pre-mixed packets from John West. Whole wheat bread + tuna + low fat cheese in the oven. Remember to use the tuna in brine and not in veggie oil. If he really want's the tuna in oil, at least buy the one in canola oil.
  19. Higher protein diet will work if he doesn't excercise, because protein takes more enery to digest. It seems you can't reason with him to start excercising, so at least tell him to eat lots of fibre if he eats carbs. For the protein part: Omlettes for breakfast- 1 whole egg and 3 egg whits for example Whey protein shakes during the day for snacks. Fat free cottage cheese is excellent protein source without a lot of calories. Chicken breasts Tuna, tuna, tuna Handfull of nuts (The healthy fats are supposed to make you feel fuller for longer) Low fat yogurt He will need veggies and fruit for the vitamins.(Can't cut carbs completly) Game Biltong Quinoa - (It's a high protein grain.)
  20. Trail riding is hectic jumps and stuff. Not for the faint hearted. XC is usually ht, but most guys get dual suspension bikes that can be used for everything.
  21. 30km may fall under half marathon Don't know about enduro.
  22. Bent derailleur hanger? Had a fall on the derailleur that could damage it?
  23. Aah!! a pilgrim who finally knows everyone (jokes) Time for a change and because of severe short term memory issues. I wanted something with indicators so I can see what gear I'm in!! Cause I forget!! Top end SRAM doesn't have this option Three words: SRAM Gripshift x.0
  24. Theoretical - For ever(almost) I bought my roadbike second hand and have done about 3500km on the second hand chain. Keep it clean and well lubed and it should last 10 000km+ This is of course not always practical/possible. Anyone want to disagree with me?
  25. Spot on Mampara.
