  1. I had the same and can offer the same advice/solution that Ham has given. It definately has something to do with saddle height but the last Physio I went to seemed to think that it was certain muscles in my legs that either needed to be stretched or strengthened.
  2. Easton EA 70xct. So far, bomb proof. Was weighing 100 - 104 when I got them. Almost a year later and they are still true. They weigh 1870g which is not bad either.
  3. I also had a similar/related issue (Bradychardia, heart rate went as low as 25bpm) and had a pacemaker put in last year (age 30). I was surprised how little info there was on the net regarding cycling with a pacemaker or heart issues. My cardio said it would be ok, just as long as it wasn't too bumpy( I love technical riding). I have since started riding more regularly and progressively riding more technical terrain and am now the fittest I have ever been. Going out almost too hard and having decent recovery has actually worked for me and I have lost nearly 11kgs from a weight where I thought I was slim and trim. My goal this year is to do the Berg and Bush, as well as a couple of top 10's in our local northern kzn MTB races. Its good to read of other experiences and I think to arm oneself with as much information as possible is important. One should also bear in mind that the best info would come from your doctor and not the internet and that a specific diagnosis may have many variables in between. In my case, the Niner bikes slogan of "pedal damn it" simplified things for me, as in my mind (with due reason) I had complicated things but in the end, I just needed to pedal damn it!
  4. Good idea. I am tired of getting dropped on the inclines. I still weigh 91 and am starting to look like a somalian already but I still get chowed on them uphill.
  5. Dont stress. XO rocks! I have had no problems and the shifting is awesome
  6. A friend of mine has a young guy that works part time for him in his garden. His name is Thobane Shabalala, he is 16 years old and they live in a small rural settlement called Moolman, which is close to Piet Retief in Mpumalanga. My friend lent him a Giant Sedona ladies bike (no shocks, v brakes, bomber style handlebars) because he showed some interest and we entered him into his first race, which was the Vryheid Meat Masters MTB race(20km). He was given strict instructions to stay in the slipstream of the guy in front of him, which he did and came second Today he participated in the Mphati MTB race in Dundee and was given no instructions at all and he won the 20km race comfortably. This guy has nearly no training, his bike is a joke and he has no kit besides a helmet. I have sponsored his race fees, transport too and from the races, refreshments at the races, as well as a shirt. We are urgently trying to organise this guy a decent bike with some kit etc. I am willing to pay for the postage of any parts. We have a guy who is said he will sponsor him R2000, he has won R400 today and I have a flat bar and a seat post for him. If there are any guys willing to part with anything, please could you contact me at philip@frontierretail.co.za. Thanks
  7. Hi Ryan. What size is your emd? I have the exact same frame and colour but I think I need an xl. It is an awesome frame and don't want to let go unless I can find the same one in a bigger size. I can quite comfortably ride my current one but after 40km's it just feels like a bigger frame would have been better. I am 1,91m tall which is pretty much the limit for a large frame. Let me know! Cheers
  8. Cool. Thanks for the info so far! rudoj, I will get in contact with you. I lived for 30 years with out a pacemaker, so I wont die if it stops working but I REALLY dont want to go through the process of getting the cables into my heart again!
  9. Does anyone out there have a pacemaker and ride MTB? It doesn't seem like there is much research out there and my cardiologist reckons smooth roads (forest/district roads) should be ok but my concern is, if I enter a race, terrain usually varies alot. I had an irregular heart beat before and rode quite a lot but since the op (7weeks ago) I haven't ridden at all. I hope there are guys/gals out there riding with a pacemaker or someone that can shed some light on the topic. Thanks!
  10. Does anyone know if the effects on the heart are an increase or decrease in BPM? My heart beats at 40 BPM (and I am definately not superfit) and has gotten progressively slower since a visit to the cardiologist in December (was43-46 BPM then). I do feel some of the other symptoms but always thought is was bad sleep/slow heart/stress/kids etc. I am now sick again, sore throat initially developing into cough and have chest and ear/jaw pain. EISH!
  11. Ihave tried one of them bar ones but I love Snickers - Breakfast of champions! Ps. I don't eat them for breakfast, which is why I am not a champion
  12. Making a sale isn't always "for free". Unless the item you are selling is R1-00, a sms or 2 shouldn't set you back too much. Normally when people are going to spend a bit of their hard earned cash, they want details and (sometimes unneccessary) assurance. My 2c
  13. Thanks for the detailed info. Now go and ride down table mountain Cheers
