  1. I use to have XT. was under the illusion the where good. but then i got Avid Elixers. and wow!!!
  2. o one more thing that i like about my SJ is that i use an normal bike rack that holds on to the top tube. that saved me from buying a new rack for my car.
  3. Well. I had/have both, a Anthem 1(2008) and Specialized Stumpjumper FSR Comp(2009) . The Anthem got nicked last year the day after ester weekend and i loved the bike . I really enjoyed her . she was about 600g lighter than the SJ and had full XT spec. the suspension was very efficient and my general experience of her was that she was a racer. lean and hard From the insurance money I got my self the SJ and i am in love I feel some what like I am cheating on Foxy, that was what I affectionately called the anthem, she was good for me and did teach me how to treat a bike right but the SJ is so much more fun and lay back. there is no hassles with rocks, big jumps or long hours in the saddle. with Foxy you get your play time and it was fast, fun and exiting but you knew after that it was a bit wild and scary and you felt used. the anthem expects you to know what you are doing. choosing the wrong line and she will let you know not to do it again. with her 100/90mm travel. With my SJ life flows, a race is just one more ride and you don't really have any hassles. one thing about the SJ is that her parts are affordable (SLX) on the high ware items but the stuff that counts are high spec. with her 120mm travel right round and her Fox shocks that has a lock out option for the hard climes. With her excellent Avid Elixir brakes. X9 Derailleur and full cable runs on the sifters there is no issues with mud, dust, gravel or sand. and her lines are hot, smooth like she rides. if i feel sad and depress i go home and go for a ride. The 203mm front disk gives hard braking a new meaning and it looks impressive. http://www.bowcycle.com/bikes/blogs/viks-picks/wp-content/uploads/2009/02/fsr.jpg so it really depends on you. if you like a bike that is extremely efficient and you don't mind taking the punishment for make a mistake then i say go for the Anthem. she is fast and expects you to give it all. time, effort and money. but if you like the easy life, some leeway to make a mistake ,chooses the wrong line and would like to live to tell about it i suggest sj.
  4. yes. i relaise that. I have a reputable wheel builder that has been recommended in mind. live in Stellenbosch. well let see
  5. can i use DT Swiss Revolution Stainless DB Spokes? I ride hard but don't do all mountain even tough I would like to think i do. it states that Revolution is not for heave use but my definition of heave use and theirs could deffer allot
  6. Hay Flowta and Ferrous Oxide . Thanks for confirming that using the same nipples and spokes is a bad idea. I have Shimano M525 SLfor my rear hub and i will use the DT-Swiss spoke calculator to get the spoke lengths when i need to order them.
  7. thanks. I am leaning toward ZTR Arch Disc Rim but still not 100% sure
  8. I managed to bend my rear wheel on my lovely stunt jumper and even tough the heart shape rim looks quite it is not that practical. so I need to replace it. so i have a few question. The rim that i have is a DT-swiss 420SL(420g i think) The bike is about 1 year 3 months old and has done about 6000km that is what my polar claims. I weigh about 92kg fully kitted and like to say that i ride hard but i don't like doing drops or ramps higher than 1 meter. I have 2 ways to go 1. Buy a new wheel (Rim, spokes and hub etc) 2. or only replace the rim, I am concerned that the spokes and nipples could be a issue later. and the last question: what should i go for? Should I go for: NoTubes/Stans ZTR Arch Rim 32H Black (420g) ( I like the sales jargon) Mavic 819 disc (tubeless, 450g) DT-Swiss EX 500 (500g) DT-Swiss XR 400 (400g) a little bid on the light side of life i think. other options are welcome
  9. jip. but mine happened after a hit a tree en bend the shifter. that is why i got the X9 now and the same issue.
  10. Thank MoreTrails. I think i managed to fix it, I loosened the bolt/screw and it works now. one more question that 4 leg star should it move/rotate when i shift? http://www.sram.com/sites/default/files/images/products/shifters/hero_15.jpg
  11. I bought this Sram X9 shifter and I am not sure if it is working correctly. should the shifter not flick back after i push up a gear? my X7 does. is this normal? it seems to get stuck
  12. Yes it does. it does exactly what is should do. it restorers the balance, it makes dummer people poorer and smarter people richer
  13. one more thing: I know some one who was very unlucky. CRC send his stuff in multiple parcels and Customs charged him double VAT. the total amount of the order was was about R5000 and he payed R1400 on VAT. R700 on the one and R700 on the other. and no complaining or begging could convince them. it got to the point where if he did not pay the amount the post office before the next day they where going to return it to CRC. i felt really sorry for him. That is why it is a good idea to make use of a importer or clearing agent.
  14. Well in theory you should only pay 14%(VAT) +R12(Customs handling per parcel) on bike parts. on other items there is duty's. i think in clouting it is 10-25% + VAT. not sure but you get the idea. some times, in very rare and exotic circumstances customs will let the parcel go through without charging VAT or dutys.
  15. https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/71243-2300-lumens-mtb-lights-new-price-reduced/page__p__1031533#entry1031533 same advert :-)
  16. I find it very funny that Brad from magiclight claim there are fake out there. it is bioned me that someone would go to all the effort of copying a copy. the Mj808 or magic shine 900 unit is a copy of the lupine Tesla, http://www.lupine.de...ghtheads/tesla/ why on earth will someone go to all the effort of copying a copy.... the manufacter does not realy give a dam who they sell it to. anyways I imported a batch of the lights for my self and some friends the rest I am selling of to cover my time and effort. about 1/5 where DOA( Dead on arrival) which i sent back. i tested ever light, battery and charger and added thermal compound to the LED's. Then i washed all the solder paste of the boards and reassembled ever one personally after i inspected the soldering. I am confident that the light that i sell will last. I plan to hold some in stock for a few months after winter if one of the lights failed so that i can swap it out for them. but I don't plan to carry it forever so after October i will sell the warranty ones for about cost. I am going to do the Transbaviaans and made my self and some friends bigger batteries. let me know if you like one aswell.
  17. Jip they are. brand new and the stock is limited so hurry
  18. It will cost R245 including laborer. i think it is worth it
  19. thank. CWC sorted me out.

  22. Hi. where is ZA can i get a lighter spring for a Roch Shox Dart 3? the stander one is for 63-85 kg I am looking for the <63kg one part number 11.4015.041.000
  23. gr8. thanks.
  24. Why is my profile photo not showing next to my posts?
  25. For me it is all about pacing your self. people start to fast and run in to a surge low/lactic sat half way up the hill and then they give up. mentally i try to pick up the pace as i go up and peak at the top but it takes practices and you need to get to know your body.
