  1. Killarney last night with the up country Pro's was some excellent racing tomorrow night I am sure will be the same!
  2. Dam I think I missed a place by 1 - would have been nice to see my name in the top 10 - with the quality field Killarney had tonight at 40 (41 by the end of the week) years of age but 11th does not cut it!!! Thanks to all in getting Cape road racing back on the map again!
  3. Wayne Roberts - Lights by Linea, explaining the vision behind the night Crits on Super Cycling 05/11/2013
  4. Looks like a impressive line up of racers for Friday and Tuesday night!
  5. All the Pro Teams are arriving in Cape Town one by one to compete in the Pro Invitational Night Crit Series in Stellenbosch on the 8&12 November. Get to Killarney on Wednesday evening to witness these men racing after the presentation of jerseys of the Lights by Linea Future Stars Team, by Reinardt Janse van Rensburg. The racing on Friday and Tuesday night promises to be an enthralling and action packed evening, where one can witness the best Road Cyclist in South Africa. So exciting

  7. Tomorrow I do a team training ride with my DC team! I have not read the whole thread so here two comment: 1. Why do a DC training ride at a funride and pay entry etc may as well do it as a team on your own like I will be doing tomorrow. 2. This to a degree makes point 1 not valid and here I should be thanking CTG for doing their team training at a funride - but at the DC we all know that the fastest teams start last. This mean they will probably be overtaking slower team. Slower team please keep left none of us want another tread in this kind of light the days after the DC. Please also read the rules of the DC teams may not slip other teams - this is very important as it makes overtaking slower teams easier when the groups are smaller it is quicker safer and easier to overtake! I would say if your team is caught your team should fall back 50m about 7sec ASAP but thats just my opinion! The rule below suggest 25m and the rules ASAP is 1km! 2.9.1 If a team is caught, it may neither lead, nor take advantage of riding in the slipstream of the team that catches it. This clause shall equally apply to riders that drop behind. A rider that has dropped behind may not join another team, nor receive or provide assistance. 2.9.2 A team, upon catching another, shall leave a lateral gap of at least 2 metres between them. After 1 km, the team caught shall ride at least 25 m away from the other. 2.9.3 If necessary, the CDC assigned officials shall force the riders to leave the 2 metres lateral gap and the distance of 25 metres respectively.
  8. Andy is the best - I will say that beyond a shadow of a doubt! As for his fees - well I think they are relatively cheap! Yes the 1st consultation maybe is a bit expensive - but hey parting with cash will alway force complete committement. His follow ups are then really in expensive - well that my opinion. He is the only dietician in 20 years of dieting that actually got me to lose many KG and even back to the weight I left school at after been over 1/4 of my body weight higher than what I was at 18 years of age.
  9. Looking at the hiring price - I still have PRO shimano disc wheels for sale in either Tubular or Clincher from R6000. They all new never been used. Would consider hiring a clincher at half the price quoted on the web site mentioned in this thread - but no frills - so person would need to organize insurance and pay shipping or collect!
  10. As far as CSA / PPA goes and their court case - I was told last week from a person who was on the committee until this past AGM that SASCOC is now been very supportive of CSA's case - and this person feels that PPA has possibly taken on a case which they now only have 50% chance of winning. I have always been told by my lawyer never go to court unless you 75% sure you going to win - going to the high court cost huge buck. I notice you are a MTB rider - well if I was a MTB ride I may have the same opinion of PPA - after all the amount amount of money that is channel from the Cape Argus Pick 'n Pay cycle tour - a road event into MTB riding is huge! But I am a roadie who has been a member of PPA for 31 years and who has done 30 Cycles tours - I have seen the road funride calendar when on a number of weekend their are road funride on both the Sat and the Sun along with league racing - those were the good time, to what PPA facilitates now for road riders. I don't think this year their will have been 1 double weekend of PPA road funrides!
  11. I have noticed how people have referred to this as a race in the tread - it was a FUNRIDE - their was no winner (not even road cycling), somebody crossed the finnish line before everyone else and that was that! In the afternoon their was a Lights by Linea road race 150km which David Garrett won! So why do I say not even cycling won - well PPA have turned their back on racing cycling (thus no place for the racing snakes like myself), I have noticed the finishing number are more than 100 cyclist down on last year which probably mean the start numbers are also more than 100 down - which in turn means hosting Road fun ride for the Fun ride organizer becomes less finically viable - which in turn will mean less road funride - which already have seen a steady decline over the past few year. At the current rate we in the Cape will have as many road funride in a few years time a does Durban!
