Hi All Having been promted from various sides on my experience in old school (1980/81)undercover racing by South Africans in Belgium and surrounds, I was wondering where and what to post.. Will there be interest in it,where does one post it (The Hub,Cycling mag(s) or whatever?). It is to a large extent a piece of our cycling history that the youngsters of today are not even aware of and will make for some interesting reading! It was the days when you looked back at your family tree to find any link to a far-off family member that could qualify you for a birth certificate/semi citizenship/visa to obtain an international license to race UCI sanctioned races.Where you had to hide after an event because you raced against the British world's (or was it Olympic?)team preparing in Belgium and beating all of them,trying to stay undercover for almost 2 years with British Cycling officialdom on your tail,training with Phil Anderson,staying in same lodging as Robert Millar,sharing flat with Rob Mcintosh,fighting with the late Alan van Heerden,meeting Eddy Merckx,being bribed to throw race(s) and and and.. Surely these memories can not just fall by the wayside?..
