  1. I made an objection to the guy that was initially the first vet. We started in the same group and there was no way he came in before me. I understand there is cash prizes for the category winners so it would have been unfair for him to claim first prize. I see it has been corrected. What gets to me is why people still go through the finish banner when they know they did not complete the entire route?
  2. Yikes. Who did the seeding for this event? I never looked at my number board till race day. I was seeded in G. And there was not even a G.
  3. Worst material for a ht mtb imo is alu.
  4. Worst material for a ht mtb imo is alu.
  5. Enjoyed the race because the start is only 400m from my home. :-) Had no legs during the first have - I popped out the back of the leading bunch several times and thought about just giving up, but hung in there. Eventually found my legs at Rosemary Hill and managed to end fourth. Nice route. Well marked and a lot of pedaling. :-)
  6. Second K2C for me and my wife. 2012 we started in the last group because we had no seeding. Sucked riding up ou wapad with so many "walkers". I finished in 4:06 and my wife in 5:16 2013 I started in group B and my wife in group D. I knocked off 24 (3;42) minutes and she knocked of 27 (4:49) minutes. This time we could ride up ou wapad!!! My Lefty gave up 4km from the start and I rode the remaining 91km on a rigid. Those downhills were hell! I managed to clock a 71.7km/h topspeed though! Will be there next year!
  7. Never has any news left me so dumbstruck and shocked silent as this... RIP BURRY!!!
  8. I finished in 3:50. It was my first k2c and this meant I had to start in group G. Mowing through the traffic at the first climb sucked. I Will be back next year!
  9. Myself, wifee dearest and another hubber are also first timers to this event. Luckilly my inlaws live in willowmore. (Father in law is the GP there) We will leave p-town on thursday, stay over with my parents in bfn and then head down to willowmore on friday. Really looking forward to this!
  10. Howzit hubbers, I have to say that this race was not as well organised is the previous two in the series. I started in A for the 70km. The first bottleneck was at about 100m. That timing banner/bridge was at the wrooooooooooooong place! Sorry organisers but that was stupid. Actually, the whole start section/area of this race was terrible. The dust going down that rocky descent was horrible. It was almost impossible to gain any positions from the one's I had lost at the first bottleneck. I was just glad to get out of there without falling of my bike! (The race that we did at the smuts museum some years ago, now that start area was a whole lot better. 400m and we hit the first clmb! The perfect start! This year we came down that hill I think.) The second thing, and this really p'd me off was the TV crew on the quad bikes Please can the organisers remind them that they are sharing the route with cyclists. They went past me a couple of times at very high speed! Will we wait untill they take out a rider before we do something about it? Also, the kick up a sheeeeeet load of dust. At one instance, the group I was in was going at about 30km/h +. They go screeming past, and the trail just dissapears in a cloud of dust, and we have to slow down to get out of the dust!!! O, and why are they not wearing helmets? Some work here for the organisers. Get the start area sorted out for Irene! (The finish area was also a slip up. The drinks table was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to close to the finish line! We started and ended with bottlenecks.) Over and out.
  11. So gepraat van: Ons was al halfpad terug Bela-Bela toe, toe die vrou vir my se: Weet jy, ons het nooit vir Pezulu gegroet toe ons waai nie. Dis twak styl as jy my vra. So hiermee vra ek om verskoning! Sorry. ;-(
  12. On a side note - Only ONE single waterpoint. Pathetic really! I passed two ladies who were alking. Clearly dead tired - this was at the first little rocky climb - as I passed them the asked how far the next waterpoint was. i answered: MOER VER! Just one waterpoint in 30 degrees C. Now that sucks!
  13. Well done Mr Jules!!!!
  14. HEMAN! Ma'man! Thanks for the updates!!!
  15. Some say...He knows two facts about ducks. And they are both wrong.
  16. I nearly fell on my head just now: Since when is the hub not a place to discuss issues? This must be a kodak moment: I have something to say but I will not say it. Now that is a first. Anyway, I just woke up and I need to go feed.
  17. Not only that but also DOING what the physio tells you to do.
  18. So, you want a doc to tell you that you can't cycle anymore? Imagine if the doc told Oscar Pistorius he will never be able to run fast. Or if Lance got told: You have cancer. Forget cycling. If cycling is what you want to do, then you will find a way to do it. Even if you have to do it by hand!
  19. If your budget is R20k and you are looking for a bike for your wife, I will set you you straight! My wife is on the small side. And very competitive. She rides a 26" HT for simple reasons: 1. Weight of the bike. My wife weighs 51kg on a bad day. Having a bike that weighs a ton, won't work for her. She needs light and fast. R20k FS vs R20k HT when it comes to bike weight? HT! 2. A simple thing like the water bottle mount. On a S or XS frame - even on a HT, there is place for only one. Just bear that in mind when you go shopping. 3. For a R20k budget, the components on the HT wil be better than on the FS. Things like brakes. You might get SLX on the FS but XT on the HT...And XT is awsome compared to SLX. 4. Suspension. Again the same as above. You will get better front suspension on a R20k HT than on a R20k FS. But, trust me on this, unless the bike is REALY woman specific and the rear shock was made for a <55kg, that rear shock is just weight she will be dragging along! I doubt that you will be able to fit a good rear shock in on a R20k budget. Get your wife a HT 26"...And upgrade it over time! I got my wife a R12k Merida XC500 (S) which is a man's bike. I upgraded the **** out of it. The ONLY original part today on the bike, is the frame!!!
  20. I never want to be mod! Dunno why you guys do it, but good luck! I feel for you!
  21. Well if you need advice on cycling you are on the wrong forum. If you need advice on moral issues...Well you are still on the wrong forum. If you want to buy and sell stuff, then you are at the right place!
  22. Since when was this ever a cycling forum?
  23. I now see why people get up at 04:30 in the morning. So they can get the training thing done and then spend the rest of the day talking shots at each other on the hub! Just FYI, I am a bit of a racist - I dislike Blue Bulls! Should this be moderated in the same way that say someone goes out and says, oh I don't now, I dislike Afrikaanse mense van Pretoria Noord/Muslims/Christians? South Africans are just waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to sensitive about some things. Been there done that!
  24. Not again!?
  25. Wat maakjulle ouens wakker die tyd van die oggend?
