  1. white porcelain at the Sani? dude take the secret of where you found that with you to the grave
  2. very good point Silvertemplar doesnt matter how well you swim it would be silly to try to do a swim this far without training for it, with regards to the timing, its always a trick to get the canoes and swimmers into transition at the same time, although that is what we aim for there are so many variables on the day, current, wind etc. we have worked out the times and hope that we can get the lead canoes and swimmers into transition together
  3. Thats the hope Swiss! so what you doing in December?
  4. thanks Swiss! so you would agree that the transition would be easier from a canoe? i have always found the hardest part of a tri is to get your legs going on the bike after a swim.
  5. i dont agree totaly JGR there is a big difference between being a "good" swimmer and being able to swim two km's,there are alot of people that find the swim leg of a sprint tri daunting let alone a ultra event, i know alot of serious canoe triathletes that stopped competing when the swim tris took off. i do however agree that people that own canoes are not scared of the water and are decent swimmers but to swim long distance is a different animal
  6. both options are available Scott, you can do the canoe or the swim, i am really looking forward to seeing the canoes line up again! its been a long long time since we have had a canoe triathlon, and interestingly for the old school guys that still remember Henk Watermeyer and Nic Bester from the old Ironman days, both have confirmed that they are going to be taking part! its going to be great to see these two rivals take each other on again
  7. i have never done a canoe tri, how would you compare the transition from swim/bike to canoe/bike Lylo i guess it may be easier with the Canoe as you are mostly using upper body?
  8. the best foodbar i have used is 32GI it is soft so its easy to chew, i find alot of the bars hard to chew if you riding hard so the 32GI works well for me, recently been using the Wedgewood Racefood (nougat) not a bad product but i find it difficult to open (small package) while riding.
  9. on the bike? need some serious skills to eat most of those during a ride

  11. HAHAHA Garfield if only all problems could be resolved like that! it is sad that we have to share the same date but without going into too much detail its through no fault of Spectrumsport or B-Active Sports, we all just hope that there is enough triathletes to go around to make both races huge successes

  19. hey Vinny, the vaal dam has multiple personalities, when the weather is calm the water is like a mirror but if the wind comes up waves of 1.5 meters are not uncommon so its luck of the draw at the end of the day. in terms of alt gain, there is a myth that the freestate is flat, believe me the cycle route will be everything but flat, sure there wont be any cat1 climbs but it will be a challenging route that i promise you
  20. currently lying @ 74% Swiss
