  1. It also helps to remove the valve core; gets more air into the tire quicker. Screw the core back in quickly and re-inflate. This even sometimes work with a floor pump, depending on the brand of tire.
  2. JB, do you think that will work as a chain lube as well? My Pedros has after 1 year of use ran out now and I am not going to pay R90 for a small bottle of oil if there is an alternative.

  6. my 2cent's worth - Why must this be an either/or issue. If I can afford a decent 29er I will buy it and use it for marathons and stage races. The 26" hardtail I will keep for week-end fun and short course races. Comparing the two is like asking what is the best car - a single cab bakkie or a 4 door sedan; you probably need both.

  10. Apart from the entrance fee the 2010 Epic cost me not more than R5000 including bike parts etc. It doesn't have to cost you R20k.

  18. I see that they on stage 4 they do a section of the Jan Phillips Mountain Drive - that's going to be fun on a roadbike. Will be interesting to see whether the riders change their tyres.

  20. Conti Race King front and back. Replaced mine two weeks ago - they had over 5000 km's on them that included last year's Epic and this year's Attakwas.

  23. I would say that if you seriously hammered it rest is now what your body needs. I am taking today and tomorrow off, will do a tempo ride on Wednesday, 8x30sec sprints on Thursday, rest or very easy on Friday. On Saturday I'm doing the 13k race with my boy, should be adequate as a pre-race "losmakerjie".
