  1. South African's in general have a problem utilising basic tools such as indicators, what level of responsibility do you think they feel for cyclists on our roads? You risk your life every time you ride on the road, this country is not cycle friendly and never will be. I have quit road cycling except during closed races.(Argus, Tour DBN etc) I ride a mountain bike off road to stay fit, its safer, more fun and i value my life too much to risk it on a bicycle on S.A streets.Deepest condolances to those affected by this tragedy. I hope heaven has seriously wide cycle lanes and no heavy transport!!!!!
  2. Thanks for the feedback, the Finish Line product is exactly the one i have settled on, it's definately the better lasting lube out of all the one's i have tried. I dont start a ride without a little green bottle in my shirt pocket!
  3. Curious as to what Lube is most popular amongst Hubbers? Specifically in muddy, wet conditions...... So far my vote is with "Finish Line" for extreme conditions, comes in a bottle with a green label.
  4. Hi Brad, Green route is about 15km and very easy, flat as well. Im doing red tomorrow with 2 mates. Planning the 82km Black in a couple of days, 15km/hr average riders in this group, let me know if you keen and its not too slow a pace for you. See you there maybe?
  5. Thanks for all the advice, turns out the air pressure was at about 50psi and should of been at roughly 130psi for my weight!!! Pumped it and it looks pretty good now. Long ride scheduled for tomorrow so we will see!!! Thanks again guys.
  6. My Park Cleaning Tool is the best money i have spent in some time, you should invest in that if anything.....
  7. Been building a new bike for some time. Finished last week with a Recon SL fork my last purchase. Rode the bike for the first time today, noticed at some point that i was a little "low" in the front end, looked down and my stanchions were gone!! I pulled them back out the legs by hand and locked the fork. About 10km on i got curious and released again. Rode 20km with no problem...What could of gone wrong? Have i done damage with the fork dropping all the way down? Is it possible it's just the air pressure that needs attention?Im worried my LBS did me in with a faulty fork. Going to have the fork pumped tomorrow, more worried that the "collapse" has done permanent damage. Anyone heard of this before?
  8. Dont believe it's a setting issue. I got the same unit, was having problems with my buttons not working, sent it to Polar SA thru my LBS. They replaced the unit after nearly 3 years!!! Blew my mind..... Give them a try.

  12. I JUST MADE THE CONVERSION TO TUBELESS, A LITTLE LATE I KNOW!! I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT HUBBERS WHO RUN TUBELESS CARRY WITH THEM IN CASE OF DISASTER?? I AM NERVOUS AS TO HOW EFFECTIVE THE STANS FLUID IS. SHOULD YOU STILL CARRY A SPARE TUBE, AIR CYCLINDER, FITTING FOR CYCLINDER, TYRE LEVERS AND A HAND PUMP???? SEEMS STUPID IF TUBELESS IS SO RELIABLE, ESPECIALLY ON 50KM TYPE TRAINING RIDES. I AM LOOKING FOR SOMEONE WHO THINKS A SMALL PUMP IS ENOUGH JUST TO TOP UP BIG AIR LOSS?? ANY TAKERS? TKS.
  13. If you bend over further and use a good chamois cream, it may lessen the pain of the new license fee!! Try holding your ankles???? I spend more on Toll Fees to work and back in a month, that's "pi##ING" money into the toilet. Read Greg Till's response in the December Ride Mag. I reckon he deserves a medal for that response to a "STUPID" women's letter.
  14. Race with the fastest avg speed: Mtunzini Classic (50km) Toughest race (left you tired and sore): Golovane Xplore (84km) Most fun: Karkloof Classic (75km) Never-miss-this-one: Berg & Bush (spectacular) Race you are gaurenteed to fall:Howick Highlander Race with the highest top speed achieved: Hill2Hill (78km/hr) Worst race (One you won't do again EVER!): 94,7 (Boring)
  15. I think SLX even looks better than XT........Sorry!
  16. I cramped regular competing in 75km events using 20-30km training rides as the norm. Once i lengthened my training rides to between 40-50km, the cramps stopped. No change in frequency of training rides........
  17. My LBS has let me down more than once, i remain loyal to them because i am consciously aware that i too have dissapointed client's in my business before, not by choice though. Everyone makes mistakes, poor judgements etc, but we shouldnt be so quick to shame them in public. (thehubsa) They have probably pleased way more clients than they have dissapointed......... If your LBS is so ***, and you have raised your issues but had no suitable response, then move on, find another shop.

  19. SEAND. Johan will catch your post soon. Really good advice and he builds wheels. Going to buy a set from him as soon as cash flow permits, really helpful guy. I weigh 98kg so had similar questions. His website is "yellow saddle" i think. Check it out. MarkU2009-11-09 12:00:58

  23. 10 Pages and still going strong...... Someone should post a pic of a human body thats been dragged under a car to add some perspective to the argument? You will always lose against a motorcar, it's a sad reality in the sport we all love so much, hug the pavement, socialise at spin classes!

  25. I think AM's comments are very admirable, there seems to be a witchhunt against Cyclelab however. I noticed it at the pre Argus ride this year from the waterfront. we took a lot of abuse from other clubs on the road, not sure why this is? I feel Cyclelab are doing a fantastic job in growing cycling and that the problem is not with the CLUB'S but rather with the lack of morals and ethics in society in general. I was witness to Andrew's lecture regarding safety and consideration at the pre Argus ride. Me,myself and I mentality is a common attitude nowadays. Seems that once certain individuals get on a bicycle, they feel invincible and care less about other road users. I say that those people must continue to behave the way they do, the cars they meet will slowly "weed" them out of society and we can rather discuss more interesting, positive topics in the future!!
