  1. Oom Vetkoek Dis Paula se reflector (Sy het gister 35km in MTB race gery) Dis Paula se pedals, inclip, sy sal haarself doodval. Dit gaan goed met die Oossies, ons moet chat. Sal gaan loer by die link, maar eers moet my timesheets in.... Cheers
  2. Thank you all . Bottom-line, the frame is too small, and I was at fault by taking the seatpost out to far. I don't expect or consider the warranty option. Will investigate the replacement frame option (do you go through your LBS?) I don't ride that hard, often, so maybe fixing it, even a weak fix, might be an option, but where does one start looking for somebody to help. Money is a bit tight, and the wife, well despite my her slow conversion to a cycling model, I still think I have some way to go before convincing her I need a new bike. Anyway, the new racing bike is more important at this point...
  3. The offendinding evidence...
  4. On my ride today I suddenly felt my saddle shift. On closer inspection I found that the portion of the frame (where the seatpost enters) had broken off. Sheared clean off. How would I go about fixing this. Its a Raleigh Namib frame (size small, because the fools I bought it from sold it to me and I was to stupid the pick up the error until it was too late) The size is probably the reason for the break, seatpost at max extension, but the question remains: Can it be fixed or is this an unfixable problem? Any Suggestions?
  5. Ja, the 20km ride was a bit of a STUFF-UP. I did the 40, ouch, but my better half did the supposed 20km. Apparently they split of onto our (40km) return leg, ie the first 2.5kms where the outbound and inbound routes merged. They were all following some-one. Rider X, I suppose, but were told they were on the wrong route and turned around after 7km. She was moerse dissapointed, and ended-up doing another 10km in Cullinan and surrounds. Back to that 40km ride. Really nasty, and finally after 10 years or riding bad-luck got hold of me, Two flats, so that was 33km or riding, and 7km of walking.....
  6. Just licenced my better half (that sounds quite interesting) I can now take her for rides (ha ha). Great service from the Myrace website, and Raeleen at CGC, less than 60 minutes to get everything approved.
  7. Relax, you dont pay, they do. But still, I hope they get a discount on the price I saw on the parcel, otherwise this little exercise is costing them a fortune...
  8. The good news. I got my License, received it by courier a few minutes ago. The rant: Sent by courier from ROAG. CSA - cost R75 CGC Affiliation - Cost R75 ROAG membership Fee - ZERO Cost to courier - R180-30 UNBELIEVABLE!!! And I though government was inefficient!!!
  9. Came accross this article in Beeld, al the hate speach directed at cyclists is in Afrikaans, but I suspect if the letter was placed in an English newspaper the hate speech would be as vociferous. Makes you understand why it is so dangerous on our roads. http://www.beeld.com/Content/MyBeeld/Briewe/1976/e6d7f284ffd04120ae2f156bdb389687/09-03-2010-10-35/Fietsryers_roekeloos_oor_hul_eie_veiligheid
  10. But do you receive a board tyo start with, or do you get this at your first race, oops ride....
  11. How does this work. The R30 paid, does it just dissappear into thin air, or do you actually get something back. I am confused, sh!t, forgot my pills again...
  12. So in a nutshell. ROAG is free, no membership fee, BUT Central Gauteng Cycling, in their all overpowering, typically GOD like demeanour, has decided that affiliation comes at a price, so free goes out the window, and the CGC fatcats smile happily once more. Full disclosure would be nice.
  13. Yip, On pressing MyRace, they confirm that CGC want additional affiliation fee from ROAG members. WHY, was this not mentioned earlier, en hoekom moet jy hulle g@t lek om uit te vind daarvan.
  14. OK, MyRace has confirmed payment and has confirmed that my card will be printed in the next batch. Lets see
  15. Daggavis, exactly, its a power struggle between CGC and ROAG.
  16. Question: Paid the licensing fee in the first week of January. Listed ROAG as club after much effort. How long do we wait for our membership? In 2009 it took a mere 7 months (received my card in June 2009). Are we going the same route. I hear rumours that ROAG members have to pay an additional amount? Is this true? I realise that communication has never been CSA's or MyRace's stong suit, but this is just ridiculous. Why insist on licences (I have no problem if the system works), but then those entrusted with organising it can barely "organise a piss-up in a brewery". Every year I think, this year it will go better, and every year (this is the fourth year of licensing) they disappoint..... Should be use to it by now.
  17. No 9, 9th year of cycling, so hopefully 10's in 2010 in the big three. Time, irrelevant, as long as you enjoy the ride, hie ha....
  18. What have the done to Great North Road?? The portion between the R23 and the R21. Could they have put on a rougher seal - only in the slow lane?? Think I shook-off about a kg just from that little work-out on Sunday.
  19. Stadige By, I think i googled the movie and saved the image, pm me and i will send them on.
  20. OK, we seem to have found the kinkel in the cable. The licenses are not being collected bythe clubs, and have been returned to myrace. My apologies to CGC and Myrace(CSA), I will try another glass of water next year......
  21. Sensitive viewers please move away from your screens. I am now officially GATVOL. Briefly, paid in December 2008, no license yet, checked with club, checked with CGC on numerous occasions, always starts a merry-go-round of you have it, no you have it. Received an SMS on May 1, 2009, From CSA, "your license has been dispatched and will be ready for collection on May 4". So I launch a query to CGC today, because every clunb in Gauteng must get there licenses from them. SURPRISE, No @#@#ing license. Can I give up now??? F@#@ing useless, useless, USELESS. Maybe I should take my photo in hand to Cycling SA, and wait while they make my card.
  22. Applied 2 Dec, and still waiting. Spoke to Jackie at CGC last week and there was nothing yet. Sent email to Justin at Myrace, and received no reply. Useles bunch of ......
  23. Oom Vetkoek!, Elite men pla my ook, maybe eerder elite old men, of elite slow men sou vir my beter beskryf het....
  24. Justin, Thanx, will call them again, maybe its in the box doing the rounds at the races, . Your effort is appreciated.
