  1. you gotta love Les Gendarmes...would they have done the same to Thomas Voeckler I wonder?
  2. I've got the ParkTool PCS9 workstand and not sure how I ever managed without it. Its very stable, adjustable, the rubber clamp won't damage your precious carbon fibre frame, and can be folded up easily in seconds if it needs to be stored away somewhere.
  3. cheers e-man note to self...*must try even harder*
  4. i'm now seeded in J (1st upgrade from Z) with a current index of 33.96339, although my 3:15 Argus from AA was a ride index of 30.73425 so wondering what seeded group that would be??
  5. finish line dry teflon lube (red lid) for dry everyday conditions finish line wet teflon lube (green lid) for wet conditions
  6. thanks so much for bringing this to my attention, awesome another 20,000 points in the bag! bit miffed now that the malmesbury road ride is only 98km...grrrrrr Perhaps the organisers can add a 2k loop somewhere
  7. Nah you don't have to be a UK citizen, you just have to be an employee of a company participating in an approved scheme (eg Ride 2 work or Cyclescheme) and you qualify. If you plan on living in London, and probably South West London with the rest of the saffers, then the Surrey Hills will be your regular haunt where there is some great singletrack, technical rooty trails and testing climbs. Also some pretty stunning views on a nice day. It can be a schlep getting there if you don't have a car tho as its a 30 minute train ride to Dorking from SW London. Heading further afield from London the facilities and trails in South Wales and Scotland are second to none. Keep in mind there is no such thing as the wrong weather only the wrong kit, buy yourself some sealskinz waterproof socks, some waterproof overshoes, some proper gore-tex full finger gloves, base layers with decent wicking properties, and you'll be fine Enjoy the riding there!
  8. 1.78m/76kg trying to get 1.81m/70kg
  9. 3h15 for me starting from AA think i was top 10 of my non-existent group. previous best was 4h50 in 2009
  10. by slightly tilted forward i mean its approximately 5 degrees down sloping
  11. optimum angle how? i went for the angle that didn't give me numb nuts, that was optimal for me, which i found to be slightly tilted nose down on my road bikes. Some people maintain that the saddle should be set horizontal to prevent slipping forward on the saddle during big efforts, but as with all contact points on the bike it comes down to personal preference and what works for you - if you aren't comfortable you're not going to be focused, be fast or be riding for a long time
  12. starting in AA 07:47 Anyone ridden with the international group before? I'm wondering if its going to be full of European racing snakes, or a bunch of tourists taking happy snaps along the way
