  1. I ride a compact and bought myself a 11-23 to swap in for the 12-26 I currently run. I found that running a compact with 12-26 I spun out way too soon in sprints and descents, so hoping the 11 cog helps with this as well as the 11-23 cassette giving slightly smoother gear changes and being lighter than the 12-26 I'm also seriously hoping I don't miss the 34-26 option climbing up Boyes in the race on Sunday
  2. I am doing the 75km funride on Sunday so unfortunately will have to miss out on this one. Enjoy guys!
  3. very recently i had a gripe with Groupon, who had debited my bank account and not provided me with the coupon to claim my deal which, as it turns out, did not have sufficient uptake. 3 unanswered emails to their customer support email address led me to post a negative report on Hello Peter. 2 hours later I received a phonecall from Groupon's Hello Peter dedicated monitor profusely apologising for the poor service and promising to process the refund same day, which they did. So I think it i perfectly fine to post a complaint on a public internet forum only AFTER you have contacted the other party directly and given them the chance to rectify the problem first. But my experience left me puzzled why Groupons management didn't invest more heavily in their email customer support team, so as to avoid the inevitable brand damage.

  7. I see from the Twitterverse that a couple of the local pros recce'd the route this morning
  8. Given my recent saddle issues and peanut-butter sarnie induced flatulence this is not advisable. Health & Safety and all that, sorry old chap
  9. I would love to but unfortunately I'll be in Knysna whilst 'Dale makes you all cry like little girlies sucking your thumbs halfway up military hill on the recce ride. I shall be at the startline on January 22nd though
  10. well if you ain't blinking out the salty tears, the only sight you should be seeing is the brand/sponsor logo of the guy-in-front-of you's bib shorts...if you can see anything else you ain't close enough Mr Kwaffee Le Turbo sir! [edited to add a smiley winky thing to let you know I'm seriously not being serious, so you don't take a fence, or any other partition structure]
  11. i'm more than happy to go UP slowly with my wife, but I'm surprised no-one has mentioned how flipping frustrating it is to be on the brakes the whole way DOWN the other side! heck the reason i don't mind climbing so much is for the thrill and fun of the descent, as well as the pain and suffering of course I really struggle with the whole "what if I come off?" argument versus "I'm gonna need a new set of pads afer this" furthermore my wife thinks cycling is the most spectator-unfriendly sport in existence (lets not get started on the shaved legs!) so no matter how much i want to include her she always finds an excuse to rather go do something with her girlfriends.
  12. My ride this morning started at constantia village, over constantia nek, up suikebosse, turn at top to head back over chappies, then black hill, looped back to sun valley to head back over chappies and up suikebosse for the 2nd time, then some flat base kms back home to constantia via camps bay, sea point and lisbeek parkway. My legs told me 6 climbs was enough for today!
  13. I'd say pretty much guaranteed a place if he stays injury free

  18. if it makes you feel any better Chubba, I am feeling exactly the same it seems no amount of arnica or rubbing is making the pain go away! deep tissue massage can help break down scar tissue which forms after cramping. I'm resting up this week before getting back on the bike this weekend
  19. phone a few "friends" and invite them over? *ahem*
  20. hmmmm interesting...lesbians....now where was i?? oh yes, errr, my wife prefers hairy legs as she says shaved legs are effeminate and a complete turn off. I still shave them though. Does this mean I'm secretly hoping she'll become a lesbian? I don't think so, but I'm hoping she'll put up with them like she's having to put up with my ridiculous awesome tan lines and summers only just started...
