  1. What does UST mean?
  2. mmmm - Like the rotor!!
  3. TrianDu,, all I can say is: THANK YOU!! Thank you for inspiring, humbling and making me appreciate all I take for granted. Good luck with all your other plans.
  4. No, not the same, but definitely inspiring.
  5. and it leaves me with tears rolling down my face....
  6. That's the spirit, girls
  7. I'm jealous! Have extra fun on behalf of me! It's going to be an awesome day and ride.
  8. I agree. When mtb-ing, it's a waste to listen to music ( for me!), but on the road I need all the help I can get. And music does exactly what you say. I cycle on busy roads and I hear the cars and trucks, because I chose the right earpieces. But to cycle 60km + without music will be the cause of my death - too boring!
  9. I'm in MB, but it's so close, it's easy to get together. We should get in touch closer to the time and definitely make time to meet. Looking forward.
  10. Any decisions yet?
  11. And I'm in Mosselbay looking for people to ride with!!
  12. Do you have the next one...where you collide with the tree? This photo looks awesome!! but where is the "after"? This is my new favourite thread. Wish I had photo's of my 'practice how to fall" sessions.
  13. Well done to both parties! And it is good to hear of stuff like this. I'm sure there are a lot of this happening, but we tend to focus too much on the negative! Thanks for sharing ..
  14. Most of us don't know how to fix our bikes while taking part in an event and you're stuck somewhere away from everyone with tools! I found this site and I think it's worth checking it out. www.bikingsa.net I think I should go ...
  15. I missed it to As did I She has a great smile and kind eyes.
  16. Me and my daughter (now 2) had a crap live before this one came along' date=' I swear to myself I will stay single till the end but look now I'm in LOOOOVVVEE[/quote'] Good for you. Everybody deserves to be happy and to love and be loved. So - good for you and your daughter!
  17. I like this Dirt Girl! Typically men! You go, girl! Keep 'hem guessing!
  18. Great - go for it! (2010 will be my 3rd Argus. So I am still fairly new to it. In 2008 i finished 16000th on a old 'n borrowed bike' date=' 2009 i finished 8200th on my own road bike and for 2010 i want to stick to that trend line i.e. doing some hard training ...) Training: Enjoy the cycling and aim for TITS (time in the saddle) and not speed or distance. Do most of the training before Xmas so that your body can get used to it. Join a cycling club/group and learn from them while you have fun. Learn how to ride in a group. Learn how to ride a long hill without "killing yourself". Start to do local races - start easy (30km; 50km; 100km, hill race). Do a seeding race (Die Burger 29th Nov09) Do your hardest training (peaking) +-2 or 3 weeks before the Argus; do hardley any riding the week before the race! The bike - change nothing during the last 2 months before the Argus. get it serviced before the race. keep the tire pressure high, etc. During the Argus - take it easy, start slow, join a small bunch that ride your speed, chat, NB: stay to the left of the road (so the faster riders can overtake you safely on the right) and never change your line as you might bump into someone ... Eat some energy stuff every 15-25km, have a sip of your (not too sweet) drink every +-10min - drink/eat before you become thirsty or hungry!! Eat a big/mixed/easy breakfast early in the morning, plus take some food 'n extra drink to have while you wait in your starting pen. It is one big carnival and you will be overtaken by 1000's of cyclists and you in turn will also overtake a few 1000's cyclists. Oh yes - go to the toilet before you start the race (at the starting pens)! You do not want to find a bush while 5000 cyclist ride past you and the helicopter camera zooms onto you It is great - enjoy it![/quote'] Thanks PeterM - lots of good tips - really appreciate it. Especially the last part about the helicopter - hahaha Best of luck to increase your positioning too! Only been cycling for six months - started at a LOW base, but I aim high ;-)
  19. We have a lot to be thankful for - so glad he's okay.
  20. What about women? Besides the fact that they'll want to avoid the briefs too (hahaha) - any "safe" ideas for them ?
