  1. i cant understand why someone would steal an e bike they wont also take the charger and a replacement charger costs money doesn't make sense at all
  2. Good news nothing happened. Ill eat my humble pie.
  3. 600 am first batch
  4. this is how clued up they are about the route let me help them with an edit to the above The race start towards the Cradle on Witkoppen and Beyers Naude presents quiet roads on a Sunday morning. When we pass Zandspruit it’s also still early morning on a Sunday with little traffic. SAPS will have a presence at Zandspruit though as a precautionary measure. Guys it Zandspruit not Zandsdrift also where have you ever seen Witkoppen and Beyers not busy.
  5. really? incompetent riders are e-bikers? wow.
  6. I think Garmin are been more than fair. If you don't like it go get another branded watch. See what they give you when you have issues. Promise it will be less than what Garmin offers
  7. I get it about slow riders on the trails. And a lack of skills. But not sure why that is an e-bike kind of issue. The same holds good for guys on normal bikes. Guys riding trails way beyond their skills level and causing hassles. That's a bike problem not an E-bike problem per se
  8. these attorneys deserve a medal maybe now the message might get out there that you will be held liable does anyone know in terms of COVID if the public can attend the court
  9. link already posted thanks
  10. Wow mate. I didn't want to be proven right about my concerns in this manner. Where that incident happened is the same road where this race will go, same traffic same road conditions. RIP to the guy. Lets see how this plays out.
  11. if its an e bike and they dont have the charger and its unique their use of bike will be limited after battery runs out that said sorry for your loss she looks like a special lady
  12. here is reply i got from organisers perhaps if i can get that number
  13. here is response from organizers obviously no clue about traffic in the area or state of roads ive now decided not for me
  14. was sketchy, details to follow but reality is starting at monte logic said down either William Nicol or down Cedar was logical route now ways do you go Witkoppen and Beyers and Malibongwe its madness
  15. thanks but i think not as it now stands ill forfeit entry fee and not ride
  16. I agree about Zandspruit, no danger from locals. But the traffic lights at Beyers and Peter road in the middle of Zandspruit never work. How will cycling groups navigate this intersection, and then as pointed out from this intersection to the N14 is narrow with no shoulder at all.
  17. Even with police buy in. How do they control taxis on the roads, other drivers and other cyclists over a 90 km distance, the number of police required is impossible.
  18. She missed a trick. You can have your e-bike chipped (fixed) so that the motor still works above the limit. So she can still keep up if she wanted to.
  19. My family and I have entered the above event. The date is Sunday the 13th February 2022. The route is interesting. Start and finish at Monte. But the rest of the route puzzles me. Head out from Monte via Witkoppen, right at Beyers and down towards cradle via Beyers. Through the cradle, caves etc. Then near Val Verde down towards Lanseria. Right up Malibongwe and back to Monte via Witkoppen. These are some major roads with high traffic volumes, Witkoppen, Beyers and Malibongwe. Added to that its through cradle where the race will mix it up with the normal cradle Sunday riders. How will the organizer's guarantee riders safety on roads like Witkoppen, Beyers and Malibongwe with Sunday drivers and the ever present taxis? surely these roads will not be closed off. How will other cradle riders take to racing groups through Cradle? How will cyclists be protected going through the Zandspruit informal settlement on Beyers? Sounds like a recipe for disaster to me. Anyone have comments I would welcome input.
  20. The days of people been maligned for riding e-bikes are long over. They are here to stay and people who cast aspersions on fitness, lazy etc are narrow minded in my view. Having more people with bums in saddles on the trails can only be good for all riders in terms of promoting the sport and paying into trail building funds etc. I have long ago accepted e-bikes. This thread has seen its day. if people have issues around how some e-bikers ride well that s another thread and in my view the same can be said for normal riders.
  21. yes you get e bike specific chains apparently with motor they need to be stronger as they handle more torque however must be honest i have not seen and e bike specific chains in any bike shop so not sure where you will source one
  22. how will the dude who stole it charge the battery seems like this will be dumped somewhere eventually
  23. in my view and experience if something doesnt gel walk away not saying its a scam or anything but if the person selling doesnt reply its best to find another bike
