  1. Makes me think of that song ... If I was a rich boy ...
  2. Agreed , training on the oos rand is a life threatening experience every weekend
  3. Hi , yes the unit is brand new still trying to get it working , when can I bring in the bike ?
  4. Im on the east rand , I even put the magnet so close that it hits the sensor each time but the monitor shows nothing , but the moment I remove it from the handlebar and lower it it is working so it's some alignment issue making that the monitor can't pick up the speed sensor ..
  5. Aligned in what manner ? I'm pretty sure it is maybe I am missing something ?
  6. Could someone please advise , I am busy setting mine up but for some reason just can't get the unit to pick up my speed from my front wheel , when I put the unit right next to my wheel it is working but as soon as I mount the unit to my handlebar nothing happens , please I've tried everything !!! And the distance is about 37 cm , withing the 46 specified in the manual , it's nearly against my brakes can't put it any higher ??
  7. PM BrandonR he knows the products quite good.
  8. Got mine for R700 , still in the box , yeah it is silly cos now I have to ride with my cateye to record my actual ride time on the bike and it servers as my odo etc etc , and my blackburn for the HR and the total ride time ... will see if I can figure out your 1st question , if only it could record both then I didn't need the cateye but now I need both
  9. Does anyone know if you can record your ride time and your total time simultaneously on this cyclometer of is it either or ? Thanks.
  10. Hi there , I started cycling with a club this weekend , haven't joined the club yet only riding with them so far. Yes it is a small club so there isn't a big variety they offer , but please when you open a club make sure you don't only cater for the real street racers, but cater for everyone , novice , intermediate and the racers. I joined them Saturday morning for a nice club ride , all enthusiastic it being my 1st club/group ride , I only started cycling about 4 months ago and have been riding alone on weekends. Club is located in Kempton Park ... What a rude awakening I got , considered myself a little bit fit at least ... I was wrong. Being a guy that rides an average of 24 km a hour , this group rode 33+ ... Yes after 40km's the group dropped me ... rather I couldn't keep up anymore , 1st time I was nauseous/sore on a cycle. So there I was... my battle alone , on a route I don't know with only me and the wind from front battling it out to find the way home , eventually found it ... exhausted. But you know what , on Sunday I was so sore I couldn't walk and I developed a mental block against cycling , but I wasn't mad at the club why should a bunch of racers be held back because a rookie like me can't keep up , yes I learned a lot but I don't blame the club. And I will continue to work on my fitness until 1 day I am able to ride with these guys again. The only thing I want to bring out is , if you are a club make sure you cater for all audiences , with proper backup and support , don't scare the rookies. Yes I had bad experience this weekend , but you know what .... that's life I will work on it an come Saturday I'll be back on my cycle Cheers.
  11. 3 Months for me now , it gets better just hang in there ...
  12. I started cycling about 3 months ago , and yes I am cycling alone every weekend and am afraid to join a club or group ride with the fear of the same happening to me. I'd rather sukkel on my own on a route I know than get left behind on a route I don't , I'd rather try to keep up with myself than with some oaks who average 30km's a hour on their ride ... my 2c
  13. Oh okay makes sense , busy readin a book by Greg Lemond where he was explaning this he was just naming them different , thanks guys.
  14. Hi , what is the difference between clicnchers and tubbies , can someone please explain with pics please , I know this is maybe a stupid question but I'm a newbie okay ...
  15. Does anyone do the finishline road ride on weekends , what kind of pace and distances are they setting ?
  16. Thanks for all the help so far , another thing , what is the main criteria I should meet before attempting to enter my 1st cycle race , keeping in mind I've been cycling about 3 months , and I'm cycling on my own not with a group every weekend ?
  17. Thanks for all the advice now the next question what is a decent average speed I should be able to keep up for the duration of the race to be able to finish before they end/cutoff most of these races ?
  18. Hi , I am a beginner cyclist as well , been cycling about 2 months , and this is my biggest reason for being afraid to enter races , I don't want to race competitively just want a fun day on the bike , finishing the race at my own pace and enjoying the day , and proving to myself I can finish the race , but mostly these kind of races don't cater for the slow/normal rider arriving in the last bunch.
  19. Thanks for the advice guys it explains a lot.
  20. Hi , Just a question from a newbie , I got a Raleigh RC3000 and my Girlfriend got a RC2000 , now she got plain handlebars that is the same width all the way through , now my handlebars are flat at the top it's Easton EA70 if I am correct , what do you name my type of handlebars that are a bit flatter on the top than the normal handlebar , and what do you experienced riders' on the hub prefer and why ...
  21. Cool thanks for the advice so far
  22. Thanks as you can see I am a beginner but really enjoy the sport , I have a Raleigh RC3000 , is this cycle sufficient for these type of events ?
