  2. Hi there. I have to agree on their service , yesterday I bought sunglasses from them (pair of Rydons I won in the auction) , paid at about 15:30 for the package and it has been delivered before 12:00 today awesome service. Big up to Lizle and the team.
  3. That will be good I did the race last year and promised myself never to do it again , last year started at 0 degrees Celsius, very cold but besides that it was a dangerous route and I I didn't like the longer route consisting of 2 laps rather work out a different longer route.
  4. My handlebar mount for my Sigma Power Led bike light broke , wanted to order one through them and they said no they only work with dealers I have to order via a bike shop the item in question as they do have stock. At the moment considering to just buy a new light for my bike as it's such a hassle just to get a new mount for the Sigma...
  5. When will the starting times be released my fiance got an sms yesterday telling her what time she is starting with her race no but I haven't received anything yet and the cyclelab website is not showing anything either ?
  6. I am not 100% sure about Finish Line , think you can ride with them without joining their club but I know you don't need to join Cycle Boys initially to ride with their group on weekends. Just pitch up and enjoy.
  7. There is 2 club rides I know of in Kempton Park ... 1. CKT Cycle Boys , they leave from the shop on Saturdays and Sundays @ 06:00 , distances to be decided in the mornings if interested the shop is located in Soutpansberg Drive Van Riebeeck Park , close to the PnP. Call Glen Campbell should you require more info. 0846772738. 2. Finish Line Cycles, not sure which time they leave on weekends but during the week they leave in the mornings @ 05:00 , not sure about the distances , they leave from the Shell Garage at the Glen Acres Shopping centre on the corner of Monument and Dann Avenues. Call the shop should you require more info. (011)391-6912.
  8. I agree with TNT1 I was at the same point in my life last year I pushed myself in the races , punished myself if I didn't do good times even got myself to a weight where I didn't look healthy anymore for my build , after a very eina 94.7 I decided stuff it I'm quitting , took a month off the bike , got back on and this year I am a real funrider enjoying my cycling, riding in lower seeding groups and really just having fun on the bike , last time I felt like this was when I started cycling in the beginning. The moment you stop having fun it's not worth it anymore I mean get real people why put yourself through this acting all high and mighty and being all serious and nasty in the races when we all actually do it for fun I mean how many of us in the open seeded groups riding a-group to whatever-group earns a living cycling , 0 of us I bet , so enjoy it and have fun. Good luck.
  9. I agree here , we had a issue where my fiance's chain keeps on dropping on the climbs , and there is a cycle shop in Kempton Park which tried to sell us a new chain ring claiming the teeth are worn , they even have a snotty 18 year old working there thinking the world of himself trying to sell us all sorts of unnecessary stuff , then we took the bike to Finish Line and they laughed when we told them we think we might need to replace the chain rings , they only set the gears properly and problem solved so far ...
  10. Seems like you get this all over there is a LBS in Kempton Park with exactly the same attitude , especially to employing a bloke not even 2 years out of high school lecturing everyone on how to ride their bikes and carrying out the repairs as the owner don't want to carry out the repairs himself and as a matter of fact I don't take my bike their anymore as this young bloke always gives my bike back to me in a worse state than it was in when I handed it over to them ...
  11. And if a non cyclist colleague asked you in what time did you complete the Argus they don't give a sh*t if you finished in 3 hours or 6 hours , it's like the Comrades they are just interested whether you finished so yeah I don't know why so many cyclists' live revolves around the mighty sub 3 , it's a beautiful race with nice scenery and full road closure why not enjoy the race instead of beating yourself up by being entry 3999 instead of 3998 to finish the Argus.
  12. It will be useful if ChampionChip sells their bike mounts as a package with the chips like RaceTec does otherwise no complaints.
  13. I spoke to them : We purchased the chip at Race4Victory last year and on the day they didn't have any bike mounts for sale , not sure why can't remember their reason. So we tied my fiance's chip with cable ties to the fork , which worked at Race4Victory but yesterday it didn't work some interference occurred , guess it was just bad luck on the day. So next time before we'll even considering entering a championchip timed race I'll make sure to get hold of a bike mount for the chip somewhere... It's just a bit sad and demotivating for her to ride a hard race and not get an official result, but as I said that's just the luck of the draw ...
  14. Hi there. Just a quick question : I was very foolish and rode the Carnival City while I had a bit of a flu , fever and muscle ache , so I didn't really expect to have a good time (HR hitting 178 in the 1st 30 seconds already) etc. Apart from the fact that I just wasn't strong enough to keep up with any group and bonking big time at the 80km mark , it was total system shutdown , muscle cramps , severe fatigue , loss of concentration and pedaling to the finish line at a pace of 19km/h etc. I have heard people mention in the past that after such a big bonk it's not a good idea to get on the bike too soon afterwards as some damage occurred to the body , is this true or should I give myself some rest to recover before getting back on the bike and if so how long should I stay off the bike ? Thanks for the feedback.
  15. Anyone had any issues where your results were not posted on championchip.co.za although you were riding with your chip , and this is not a new chip has been purchased and used at a few events before ?
  16. That's the groupset you get for R5 ...
  17. 7:35 for me too ... see you guys there.
  18. How is the rolling resistance on these ?
  19. , that's what I thought on Saturday morning and actually seeing the humor in the situation , and my lbs actually told me these are the best tyres etc etc guess that's why they have them on special...
  20. Hi there. On Saturday morning I went for a training ride on the wet roads here in the east and about 20km from home I punctured while stopping at a red robot, didn't have a flat before I stopped as soon as I pulled away I noticed my back wheel is flat, in any case change the tube and head home. Now just as I am about 1 km from home a heard a loud pop like a cracker shooting , so I noticed my back wheel is flat again, any case got off my bike and push home when at home I inspected the tire and noticed the sidewall had a big tear in which happened after the pop, wasn't there before, when I fixed the 1st puncture I inspected the tire and it wasn't there. Now what could have been the cause of this, 2nd time on the tire as I have only used that tire a week before for the 1st time so it's a brand new tire. And this is the second time it has happened to me but both times was with maxxis Detonator tires, is there an issue with these tires or am I doing something wrong that might cause this ? Thanks guys , looking forward to your responses.
  21. I got 103 as well.
  22. I've used it and the only noticeable effect it had on me was to increase my appetite.
  23. Hi there. I am curios how many of you guys use the water points in the road races ? And by using the water points and giving yourself a minute or two to recover does it really help so much by finishing the race stronger and by making up the time you lost while at the water point , in contrast with pushing through and not stopping at 1 water point and maybe dropping your speed at the end due to fatigue and crawling over the finish line ? Looking forward to your replies. Thanks.
  24. Who sells them , cause my LBS don't have stock and can only get stock in April but have been looking for a while for a set of these ?
  25. I Agree. You can't really generalize, on our training ride Saturday morning on North Reef Road here in the East Rand there came a MTBer past us, he didn't greet, he skipped red robots and even failed to acknowledge us after passing him and trying to greet for the second time. You get all sorts in both road riding and mountain biking.
