  1. Except not for size Mediums...(most people's sizes)
  2. It doesn't look like it's on DSTV to me?
  3. Did you see any sign of the metal filings around Miller's Point? They caused numerous punctures on Saturday and were apparently still causing some problems yesterday. There was also a heck of a lot of broken glass on both sides of the road in the Oudekraal area, close to the 12 Apostles Hotel. Hopefully that will be gone soon.
  4. Does anyone know what time the groups set off? I checked through my sms messages, but don't seem to have received a start time. Does the A group go first at 6:30? No $, % etc. before?
  5. According to the very thorough and informative tire testing website - bicyclerollingresistance.com - GP5000's are slightly less puncture resistant than the GP4000's, despite what Continental claim. So for your needs Gatorskins definitely sound like they will suit you better.
  6. Except I never said that only $ do it. I was in % and they were doing it too. I said as much. These guys pick and choose and create straw men to argue against. They seem quite dim to me and are dishonest arguers.
  7. I didn't say it was ONLY $. I said % were doing it too and that's why the marshall pulled his car up in front of us ( I was in %). I think it was you and a couple of others babbling on about how amazing the riders are in $ and you won't understand etc. cos they are so pro and amazing.
  8. So right and I wish more racers would acknowledge this. But many of them prefer to miss the point completely and start babbling on about echelons or how 'you don't know what you are talking about since you don't ride in the elite groups'. (Meanwhile we do ride in those groups and that's why we are bringing it up).
  9. Except I have ridden in those bunches. You are clueless.
  10. What you don't seem to understand is that they are elite riders and are therefore entitled to the entire road.
  11. I've often thought the same thing. They punt these races like the 99er that they are official seeding races for the Cape Town Cycle Tour. But the penalty will be like -10 by then, so it really doesn't help much, if at all.
  12. Yeah agree...why did they shorten and emasculate the route like that?
  13. I think you miss the point rather spectacularly.
  14. I agree. A few of of these self appointed 'elite riders' (Are they really that 'elite'?) think their right to ride the perfect echelon includes taking up both lanes and the yellow shoulders of a major road. Anyone who disagrees is not pro enough to understand and has apparently never been there. I was in % yesterday (hardly a novice group) and have ridden with pro riders in the past and understand all about cross winds and echelon formations. The commissaire yesterday felt forced to take drastic and dangerous action himself with respect to %. Will the elites moan when they no longer have permission to race on public roads, because of incidents like yesterday and last year's 99er on the N7?
  15. LMAO, I don't know why you get that feeling? Only you know why. Who said anything about single file? How about just one whole lane? What exactly haven't I contributed? Why do I get the feeling we are speaking to some dude with a really low IQ?
  16. And you are obviously above the laws of the road, cause you are that good?
  17. I have raced in an elite bunch, yes. Stupid of so called "elite" cyclists to think they own both lanes of a major road. Are they full time pros? Some of the comments above show more evidence of this stupidity. Especially Sidmouth's. But I guess it will take drastic action for these super elite pros to admit any responsibility.
  18. It's called common sense. Common sense that riding into oncoming traffic is a bad idea. Every rider should try to have it.
  19. Yes very stupid to echelon into oncoming traffic. Same thing was happening in %. I guess why the commissaire took such extreme action himself. But I think too many racers unfortunately don't have brains.
  20. Unless that right hand lane was closed to oncoming traffic, then that is super dumb of those $ riders. Suicidal in fact.
  21. I think overall it was a pleasant morning out on the bike. Did not come away with negative feelings, despite some imperfections with the venue/organization, traffic queue entering Val de Vie etc. I was in % group and agree that marshalling was perhaps a little dicey, with the race commissaire pulling his vehicle to a halt in front of a speeding bunch - twice. But riders also need to wake up and take more responsibility when it comes to things like crossing the centre line and riding in the wrong lane. It's the reason why the 99er has been banned from using the N7 again after last year's race. Seems too many racers feel their own personal quest for 250th place, or whatever, is worth risking a head on with a truck coming the other way.
