  1. The cost to enter the 99er looks to be a lot more than most of the other events? I just paid R430 each for my wife and I (including compulsory CSA day license), whereas Tour de PPA in a couple of weeks looks like it will only be R240.
  2. Last appeal to buy 2 spare entries please!
  3. I'm looking for two entries, if anyone can assist. Thanks in advance.
  4. I now see the 100kph gusts en route to Franschhoek.
  5. According to windy.com, I see strong gusts (not quite 100kph) and rain forecast all morning.
  6. That's why I watch the wind prediction for this race. It really caused chaos last year with the echelons moving completely over into the oncoming lane. The race commissaire of my group was so irate he pulled his car to a screeching stop in front of the speeding peloton. He did this more than once.
  7. I think if you set the attached image to show wind gusts, it turns pink for Paarl and Stellenbosch. So should be very gusty even if the prevailing wind is not too hectic.
  8. Yeah that's strange.. My windy.com is showing noticeable prevailing wind with pink/purple gusts for this weekend in Paarl and Stellenbosch. I realize windguru doesn't have an official spot in that area, but their forecast is looking extremely windy for Cape Town - and usually that near inland vicinity still gets some of that wind when it's pumping in CT.
  9. Not from what I am seeing on Windguru and windy.com. According to current forecasts it looks like the wind is going to be absolutely blasting on the weekend.
  10. Why is the 'long' race so much shorter now compared with previous years? The route used to be about 125km and went past Riebeek Kasteel.
  11. % for tomorrow's race is fine. Was my F group PPA seeding which surprised me. Not shocked me, just surprised. My best recent-ish result was the 99er earlier this year. That put me into a high Tour de PPA and CTCT group (%). I was just surprised to see PPA are now using my Tour de PPA result from long ago (2018, with 15 point penalty) as my best result. I would have thought this year's 99er (much more recent, much more relevant) would still be the race to use. Perhaps I just don't understand their system.
  12. I got an sms now to say I am in % for tomorrow's Durbie Dash, so I guess they don't follow the PPA seedings. Yeah not sure what's going on with my PPA seeding...but then you say it's all changed. Don't know why they would use such an old result from early 2018, with its 15 point penalty, when I had some pretty decent and much more recent results this year.
  13. Are the seedings all messed up? I rode % group in CTCT this year (haven't raced since) and was generally A-B group in races leading up (99er, Tour de PPA etc). Now PPA seeding has put me in F group, using a result from more than 1.5 years ago, with big penalty for being an old result
  14. They managed to mobilize about a million police and police vehicles for SONA last week. So I don't think that the City will be able to use a 'lack of resources or personnel' as an excuse anymore.
  15. Did you see any sign of the metal filings around Miller's Point? They caused numerous punctures on Saturday and were apparently still causing some problems yesterday. There was also a heck of a lot of broken glass on both sides of the road in the Oudekraal area, close to the 12 Apostles Hotel. Hopefully that will be gone soon.
  16. Thanks for clearing that up.
  17. Does anyone know what time the groups set off? I checked through my sms messages, but don't seem to have received a start time. Does the A group go first at 6:30? No $, % etc. before?
  18. Except I never said that only $ do it. I was in % and they were doing it too. I said as much. These guys pick and choose and create straw men to argue against. They seem quite dim to me and are dishonest arguers.
  19. I didn't say it was ONLY $. I said % were doing it too and that's why the marshall pulled his car up in front of us ( I was in %). I think it was you and a couple of others babbling on about how amazing the riders are in $ and you won't understand etc. cos they are so pro and amazing.
  20. Who said it's only $?
  21. So right and I wish more racers would acknowledge this. But many of them prefer to miss the point completely and start babbling on about echelons or how 'you don't know what you are talking about since you don't ride in the elite groups'. (Meanwhile we do ride in those groups and that's why we are bringing it up).
  22. Except I have ridden in those bunches. You are clueless.
  23. What you don't seem to understand is that they are elite riders and are therefore entitled to the entire road.
  24. I've often thought the same thing. They punt these races like the 99er that they are official seeding races for the Cape Town Cycle Tour. But the penalty will be like -10 by then, so it really doesn't help much, if at all.
