  1. Comparison recently done here:
  2. Garmin Forerunner 935 on Takealot for R5,999 today.
  3. Hi all, Any suggestions for a CT-based coffee machine repair / service co? Don't have anything fancy, we just have the Breville Barista Express but the grinder has been acting up lately so just want to get it checked out.
  4. There’s a cool local company in CPT called 4WKS Coffee who make compostable pods using blends from Deluxe, Rosetta, Naked and I think Terbadore. Worthwhile if you’re using a Nespresso machine but want to be more eco-friendly (https://4wks.coffee/)
  5. Ja it's not cellphone based - we have the trackers installed. And I know they're working because the correct stats get pulled through and the other day when she aquaplaned on the way to work in the torrential rain they called her immediately and knew her position etc. It's just somehow not pulling through to the webpage dashboard and monthly reporting.
  6. ai, so frustrating! I even said in my first e-mail to them that the DQ tracker is pulling the data correctly to DQ Mapper, but somehow the data on their end (website etc) isn't correct - and then the helpline guy e-mails back saying I must setup an appointment to install and activate a DQ tracker before any data will show. No sense sometimes...
  7. Hoping one of you can help (not Discovery Vitality related, but Discovery Insure) - for the last 2 months the Disco website hasn't been pulling through my wife's driving stats (which affects the overall score and cash back etc) saying she doesn't have a DQ Track installed, despite this being done in Feb/March of this year. I've double checked and the issue is on the website and not the DQ Tracker, which I can see is correctly tracking her trips on the DQ Mapper site I can access. After I complained last month Disco manually allocated a score to her but it's happening again... anyone else had this issue?
  8. I've been in Somerset West for half of lockdown and ridden the Wannabees trail quite a bit and kept thinking you could have good fun on there with a gravel bike!
  9. I bought one of these from Bike Addict towards the end of last year at a great price and have loved it - using it on both my road and MTB. Very comfortable, provides good protection and airflow, has MIPS so ticks that box for you as well. I can't comment on on the crash test as yet (touch wood), but its solid enough. So zero complaints from my end!
  10. Howzit all, I’m moving to Rondebosch in the coming months and was planning on cycling into town for work as I’ll be based in the foreshore area - any suggested routes or areas to watch out for? The way I see it’s basically over the mountain, along Woodstock main rd, or along Liesbeek then onto the cycle lane.
  11. Also still waiting on my results - nothing on Racetec, no SMS or anything... 2 people I rode with both received their results (with the 1 also dropping back like me to ride with the 3rd person). Sent in a query to CTCT and Racetec but no response as yet.
  12. Don't think it's a cleats vs flats thing - I ride cleats (would love to give flats a go though) and never had any issues with the course. I saw way too many people struggle on every downhill switchback we came across... like @Aquaratza said, think it's mostly down to being 'unskilled' as a result of never having ridden on those types of surfaces.
  13. Did the 60km with my old man - views were incredible, organisation was quality, and the dip in the river at 50km was pure bliss! Still, I don't think either of us will be back again. Neither of us are particularly fit at the moment (fractured ankle towards end of 2019 for me and constant travel for work for my dad) so took some strain doing the distance in the heat. But the many, many walkers, super sandy and dusty sections, lack of fun, flowing single track, and the numerous boxes who (if they even had the decency to announce themselves) would shout to pass and bully people out the way even when there's no point in doing so, are what put me off. I'm by all measures a fairly average rider, and I really didn't think it was a technical race - the switchbacks weren't too sharp, descents weren't too fast, and no technical single track that I can recall. The only times I had to walk was when someone on an e-bike caused a bunch of us to stop when he decided to climb off his bike in front of us just as a short, steep uphill started (and then proceeded to tell us all not to push our bikes past him because he wanted to ride), and again near the end of that very long sandy section of the road. Otherwise it was all very manageable (even that section with the cliff drop-off; but I can totally understand people opting to walk - rather safe than sorry if you're not comfortable!). For the XC boys I can imagine it would have been lots of fun, so fair game! But wasn't my cup of tea - different strokes for different folks. Still had a blast being out there on such a beautiful day though. All the best to those riding CTCT this weekend.
  14. Don't stress too much! I did Durban 70.3 last year which was my first proper triathlon (only every done a few Xterra's over the years) and with very little training I found it more than manageable! I certainly didn't shoot the lights out, but was quite stoked with my time of 6h30. For someone who's a terrible swimmer, hardly trained and who had never done an open-water swim before, I found I much preferred the sea to swimming in a dam as you can actually see underwater. Agree with Shaper above, sighting is crucial otherwise you end up swimming a few additional metres. My furthest training ride was 70km and found the ride very flat and fun. Despite having done a few proper trail runs over the year leading up to June, having not trained on the road at all other than a 30km run in Jan, the pain of running on the road was the only thing which got to me and was the main cause in me not coming in at 6hrs. But take the above with a pinch of salt As we had incredible weather last year with a very calm sea for the swim and no wind on the ride or run (other than a slight breeze to keep you cool).
