  1. It was open at 6am 2 weeks ago, not sure when the winter switch will kick in but it shouldn't be too soon.
  2. Never had an issue with TVS Cycles and Thomas is an absolute gent. Everything I've bought from Tommie has been as per the advert and the price has been fair. If you are unsure of "Kyle" just stick to communicating with Thomas and you'll come right.
  3. I bought a pair of Rockbro's from AliExpress for R250 including shipping and use them for early morning rides. They are still good wind protection at that time of day regardless of the UV story. The okes in SA aelling them are really taking you for a ride at "R1799" down to "R799" lol.
  4. I've ridden GP4000's and Gators (25mm Clinchers) and always have them at 7 bar for training rides and 8-8.5bar for events. There's no point in having different pressures...pick one that you find comfortable. The tyres were designed to work at the recommended operating pressure. Pump them too low and you will be absorbing every stone and shard of glass you ride over (possibly why you've been eating through tyres). I weigh 84kgs. Lighter riders can get away with lower pressures as they induce a lower effective bearing pressure on the tyre-road contact surface. If you find the data and nitty gritty interesting you can play around with this site below which allows comparison of various tyres, pressures and related rolling resistance: https://www.bicyclerollingresistance.com/road-bike-reviews/compare/continental-gatorskin-2015-vs-continental-grand-prix-5000-latex-tube
  5. I'm not sure if all are aware of what may have caused the spike in congestion and rider this past weekend? A virtual race called the "Cradle Cracker" took place from Bidon Bistro: https://www.wannado.co.za/cradle-cracker We cycled past around 7:30am and saw the chaos ensuing! It would be great to see more responsible organisation of these events, not only due to Social Distancing necessities but also for the residents of the Cradle. The Cradle is somewhat of a cycling Mecca to Johannesburg residents and we should respect all players involved. I agree with the statements here about the disregard for others...don't spoil this guys! Remember the days of Stage 5 and indoor training and cast some mindfulness for us all!
  6. Howzit JaQ, I recently arranged shipment with John O'Connor Cycles from Cape Town to Johannesburg and I am a happy customer. Their fee included boxing and shipping (via Triton Express) and came to R915.00 or so. Alternatively give Fabian a shout: https://bicycle-transport.co.za/. He may have a potential solution for you.
  7. I could not agree more. I have been very disappointed with them since the Cycle Lab takeover after a long happy history of dealing with them in the past. I guess business is business and people will do that differently which is their choice and is fine. It is also my choice as a customer to stick around or find somewhere else to buy my goods and that's what good relationships are all about!
  8. Eskom might need a new Stage and coal plant for this! But yes, safety always comes first.
  9. Can we do it all again this weekend? Sunday's training ride looks extremely barren without a whiff of freshly roasted coffee through Kalk Bay and screeching brakes through Simon's Town!
  10. That was seriously scary Nutty, I rode 1B...we were all really confused as we came to a halt until we saw you on the floor...got a massively dark feeling as we went on but relieved to hear you are still going and all the best with the recovery! I don't think the 1 min batch gaps effected your incident but there were definitely quite a number in our journey...I hope they give it at least 3mins next year otherwise I will be fun riding at the back on knobblies!
  11. That is horrific, wishing Peter a full and speedy recovery. I felt those last few turns into the stadium (especially with the quality of that road) was a recipe for a terrible high speed incident Those potholes going out through Alberton were quite scary too! Saw a number of guys hitting them in AL...I hope there is more of an effort to make things safer next year, (I can sympathise that the rains contributed a lot of road damage) the route should be well checked and improved for rider safety. Well done to everyone who rode the race!
  12. I now know what "inclement" means! You learn something new everyday! That same story was going around OLX when I sold my mates motorbike.
  13. Racefood make some great nougat bars called FASTBAR...they're usually in stock See the image of the packaging below if you're determined to use nougat bars:
  14. I thought it was a pothole, luckily managed to sneak around the side and joined up with 10 other guys as we tried to TT our way back on. Didn't manage to rejoin but was a good test for the legs! Hope everyone in the crash is ok!
  15. And this if you have a 53/39t with 11-(28 to 32)t cassette options? https://www.cwcycles.co.za/product/shimano-ultegra-r8000-11spd-groupset
  16. What Black Friday Magic can you work on these grouppos? https://www.cwcycles.co.za/product/shimano-ultegra-6800-disc-11spd-groupset https://www.cwcycles.co.za/product/campagnolo-super-record-ti-11spd-groupset-2015
  17. Hi Naas, I see CWC have their Gatorskins (25mm) up for R525. Would you be able to beat that for Black Friday? Yours are currently R650. https://www.evobikes.co.za/continental-gatorskin-tire-700x25c.html Thanks!
  18. Some Gatorskins (25mm) would help for getting in some longer training rides without incident! https://www.cwcycles.co.za/product/continental-gatorskin-foldable-tyre Please!
  19. Have a look at Club100, they have a decently sized group of riders. Their website link is below: http://www.club100.co.za/plettenberg-bay-branch.html
  20. Perhaps a question/comment on their Twitter page for those who have Twitter: https://twitter.com/RaceTecChip?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Eembeddedtimeline%7Ctwterm%5Eprofile%3ARaceTecChip&ref_url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.racetec.co.za%2Ffeatured%2F I have emailed them to ask if they are aware of all the happenings...I wait with hopeful expectation!
  21. When it comes to Racetec calculating indexes for the race: The index is based on the winners time and beta value (to be rudimentary). Is anyone aware of how the winners group riding a different (shorter and easier (without Tom Jenkins)) will be taken into account? A lot of riders had a very good day out and could improve their index significantly but won't be fairly accounted for if the differences aren't considered.
