  11. Hello ChrisF I started cycling in October of 2001. I was a "Fun Ride" Junkie. I cycled every single road race around Cape Town. From Langebaan, Club Mykonos to Strand. Cycling to Villiersdorp just to Camp for the night with a crowd of fellow cyclists, PPA overnight camps. Every weekend, sometimes on the Saturday and the Sunday, Bonus. Yes there was the Argus, First in 2002, From "M" I rode 3h37. Then I got to hear about "Charity Ride", Riding for a Cause. I was instantly hooked, What could i Lose? I just loved to Cycle. I went about finding out "How to ride for a Charity". From the Government Social Development offices to my local Church and Rotary Clubs. I then went about contacting the local Old Age Home which was connected through my Church. Getting permission and setting up Documents was done. I got sponsorship arranged for three different sport supplements through the years. Once I started Riding for a Purpose, I went and selected Up Country Far away Races. I even went on a 5 week riding spree. 2004 Week 1. Cape Town to Durban, via Bloemfontein, for Amashovashova. Week 2. Durban back to Bloemfontein, for OFM Classic. Week 3. Bloemfontein to Pretoria, i went to wrong the place. Week 4. Around Pretoria, for the 94,7 Week 5. Returned back to Cape Town The furthest i have cycled to is the area around Musina, on the Zimbabwe border. 2000km I first cycled to Knysna, condition of Sponsor. From Knysna back to the N1, through the forest, onto Pretoria. Whilst cycling, late into the night people have stopped me to offer a place to stay for the night. Farmers, Two occasions. B&B owner. Reaching Louis Trichard @ 02H00 before the Race to Start around 06Hoo, Tried to rest at the Town Police station, stranded. Lots of Treasured memories.
