  1. I take it as a compliment usually.... And I will confess I try drop them... Not always succesfully
  2. If crank based powereter be sure to check the clearance on the chainstay. Most bikes have enough clearance but my checkpoint for instance doesn't I have a 4iii on my MTB and I like it for 3 reasons. Helped me pace ultra long distance rides. Nice to see power surges and back to threshold on long switchback climbs ... Motivational cos it makes me feel.like I'm doing intervals. And third... I love geeking out on all the pretty numbers. There are a few gamechangers in cycling kit imho. Dropper posts, powermeters, varia radar.
  3. Just looks like bad manners from the oke who made the video ... But he'll get views which is what uchoob is about. Also ... Dunno what the guy weighs but at 94kg even I can match those numbers... My doors would be blown off their hinges after but ....
  4. I have a trans baviaans t shirt I can't bring myself to wear in public cos I got sick and missed the event. I even feel sheepish when I wear it as pajamas.

    [EVENT] Tour de PPA

The only time I ever got over vissers vaguely in touch with the group was when a certain hubber who usually rides higher gave me a push over the last big ramp at the top...... I got dropped further on anyway so.
  6. Sounds like someone I once saw on BMX at the ctct.
  7. You forget .... I watched you watch your number go up as the site pulled your rides through!! 😀... Even though you were disappointed that the answer WASN'T 42
  8. Have a nice day Dave
  9. Ha ha ... Or just enjoy riding bikes
  10. What issues have you off the bike if you don't mind the question?
  11. You've ridden 59km or more on 59 separate occasions - hardly measly!!!
  12. The swinny.net site has a button that will show either miles or km. On the left of the screen once it shows you the number
  13. My standard race entry process involves me, Jack Daniels, late nights and my credit card ..... So I'm probably in. I like Greyton. Have enjoyed the trails there quite a few times.
  14. Was a nice event in 2022 - I'll give it another bash this year I think.
  15. www.swinny.net pulls your strava data to calculate your Eddington number. That's the largest number (E) where you've ridden E distance on E days. So if you've ridden 50km on 50 different days your Eddington number is 50. Mine is 106 (in km)- up from 100 at the beginning of 2022. Sure there's some hubbers with E=100 miles?
  16. There is enough technical gear around cycling to load a person's credit card to breaking point. If you are going to use navigation features a lot then a good head unit, wahoo and Garmin are the main players and some folks swear by Karoo. All offer turn by turn navigation and in conjunction with Strava and komoot apps and websites are a great way to discover new routes. The phone will work for this purpose but it is cumbersome. Picture yourself in blazing sun, hot and sweaty with suntan cream and grit on your hands trying to.operate your phone .... That having been said it's a good way to start. Enjoy
  17. Same problem in multiple browsers - gave up in frustration
  18. I'M GETTING WHAT?????!!!!!!
  19. And what.might a 61cm road bike weigh?
  20. Ah yes... Amazing how they neglect to mention that cap of 4k. That caught me out last time.
  21. I am sure this has been answered in this thread but can someone in the know please confirm that my understanding of the sports device benefit is accurate. The app tells me I have a 50 percent upfront discount. Does this mean that if I buy a Garmin watch at sportsman's having activated the benefit on the app that I will get 50 percent of the ticket price backmon discovery Miles at the time I purchase? I recall last time I used this benefit I got a drip feed of discovery Miles based on my weekly completion of exercise targets. Thanks in advance for input
  22. Looking into the year and lining up my 2023 riding goals and itinerary and interested to hear what others have planned. Trailseeker banhoek in January. 99er road race and tour de ppa. Tour de cap and ctct. Eroica nova, swartberg granfondo and 36one which is the major focus of the year for me, my second one. Edit to correct 2033 to 2023... Cos who knows what will be happening then... I'll probly be on an ebike I'm sure
  23. Nice instructive and helpful thread. I'm gonna do some thinking and follow up in the new year.
