  1. Just came back from 6 days of hiking the Amotola trail. It has to be the most awesome stretch of country i have ever seen. Waterfalls, gorges, jungle, mountains and forest. This area is magnificent. finished the hike in Hogsback. I wish i had my MTB this area is a must for anyone who rides mtb. Also thee vibe at Fairies is so lekker.
  2. This is fanatstic news
  3. I got into w2w 5 days before the event started. Was on the waiting list and got no joy then went with my mate who was in the race to the pre event briefieng spoke to an organiser and boom i was in. The next day i got a phone call saying my turn on the waiting list is available. SO from not being in i now had 2 entries . If you want to do these events you can almost always get in there will always be last min cancellations. People, get injured, work, sick , have to travel etc and things open up.
  4. I have not done epic but i ride hectic western cape terrain and have done many races including w2w, eselfontein, slanghoek, grape escape etc . I find the Kenda Nevgals to be bulletproof. They just heavy, but i have never had a puncture in 3 years of riding
  5. Its good that they wearing helmets incase they fall
  6. Cool im in the top 10 of the world greatest carbo loaders. Now i can drink and ride without guilt
  7. I drink quite a lot so beer is part of my diet so to speak. Basically my mates have a nice liquid lunch on friday afternoons and then i ride a mtb race sat morning, i just wanted to know if the beer is really that bad or shouldnt make any difference. Im not riding for podiums i ride for fun.
  8. If i have a couple of beers(2 or 3) the day before a tough ride how bad will the effects be come race day.
  9. I have its yours im just waiting for this guy to confirm with me that i can have his Grape escape entry once i know which should be by 2 pm or so i will sell you my argus mtb .
  10. Polo i might be doing the grape escape if i do you can have my entry for the 52km. R140 its yours. Let me know if you keen?? I should know by today.
  11. Naa that wasnt me i was just in the wrong place at wrong time it wasnt a roadblock he was just waiting on kloof rd at bottom of stairs of the trail and as i came out bam!
  12. Last week i got pulled over by Sanparks for riding singletrack this was at 6 30 am on the bottom slopes of lions head. He wanted to hit me with R700 fine. I talked my way out of it but he warned that he will catch me again if i tried. They were parked at the s bend on kloof street so as you exit the track they get you. They dont patrol the mountain they just sit and wait for MTbers and harass us. To say i was not impresed is an understaement. Now i cant ride alone as i will be mugged and if i do ride i will get fined ... i mean wtf!!!
  13. If i saw someone chuck his bottle or sandiwch away i would pick it up catch up to the guy and throw it at his head . hearing this makes me sick how self important people think they are.
  14. This coming from a chap that just bought a Apple i phone today on another thread. Just for this comment you should donate the said iphone to a worthy cause. https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/99544-apple/page__p__1343772__hl__apple__fromsearch__1#entry1343772
  15. Double your weight and work from there, so pump it up to 170 psi. That should sort it out
  16. Paul i ride on the MTN twice a week with a group of friends. When you in town give me a call and you are welcome to join. We havent seen muggers yet but they welcome to try their luck with us. Also if you going to do just 1 ride go to tokai and you will love it. Jonkershoek is a great call also and Oak Valley about 45 mins out of town is a must do ride.
  17. Tnanks for that you made my day, truly hilarious.
  18. 90% of the riding i do in the cape is rocky, technical stuff like jonkershoek, tokai etc So i havent felt the need for a niner yet but some of the races i enter i suppose a 29inch hardatil would be nice if it makes me go faster, or makes downhills easier etc, whats the verdict on a ful susser 29inch??
  19. Nope didnt copy your thread just speaking my mind, not saying they going to go away alls im saying is im gonna adopt a wait and see attitude before i hand in my trusty Trance x .
  20. Nope still not convinced.....going to wait another year or so and see when the hype dies down. After then i will make a rational call on going 29 or not. Just have a sneaking suspicion that guys are trying very hard to justify this 29er story but i could well be wrong. time will tell. In the meantime i will slum it out on my 26 full susser for now.
  21. Speak to Ricky Treger he is a good guy and should sort you out.
