I dont think an epic can fit a 42. Big advantage on faster sections but over all speed is not super high.

Anyone have a picture of what bike Thinus is on? HT / Dual / Gravel? KB on a gravel bike!! https://www.instagram.com/p/B5ZS3tJHMKR/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link Interesting that he seem to have opened up on the first of the two descents? Would think that is the place he was at the biggest disadvantage on the gravel bike. Edit: seem to have stayed together on the gravel. Time to see who climbs better.

Its that time of year again! Dot watching at its best. Any social media pushing out decent pictures? Race rigs?
  5. So thinking about doing this, I see registration is on the 17th till 16h00, what time is the start though? Try to see if I could squeeze it in after Sani trail that ends on the 16th?
  6. Hi everyone Does anyone know of a shipping company that offers shipping for bike boxes from Europe back to RSA. Does not need to be fast (so shipping is fine) just looking for cheapest options. Backround, we finished a Trans Africa overland trip, got a fair amount to get home, if we can off load the four bikes (everone travels with 2 bikes each right?) that will make the flight home more manageable. Any help will be much appreciated.
  7. Im pretty sure that is not an S works. Would like to see a spec break down possibly just an uneducated sale, but still suspicions.
  8. Hey So I know there has been abit of bashing of tony for just putting the picture up with the topic heading suggesting theft. But having looked at the add I would seriously consider this a flag for a dodgy add. 1) Its posted by a Lyle who from what I can see only has had 1 advert, its the first thing I look at when buying online. (I am not a OLX guru so that might be one active) 2) If it is a sale of the whole bike then the of the add at Rockshock is very odd. 3) Pricing is way out at R10 000 which is very odd. 4) And probably least red "flagish" is that photo. But most people keep thier bikes in a storeroom of sorts, (I have no idea why, I like to keep mine in the living room so I can look at them). My question is when all these flags are raised, in a town hundreds of kms away how do we get someone to investigate it further? If it is legitimate then good luck with the sale to Lyle. But as the cycling community we really should care, if there is a EASY market for stolen second hand bikes the risks of riding them will be even higher. James.
  9. Well that was abit longer than i anticipated, possibly should have started earlier, taken abit more fluids. But a great pedal non the less. Lost the green belt on the way out as the mtb route came out by the cirlce not southern cross (then i took the wrong tar road down) but found it on the way back as we linked onto someone the same speed as us. Very cool piece of route. My wife was well upset when the mast was not at the very very top, photo evidence of her off to find the highest point. Disclaimer before someone thinks we crazy, we did not do the above kirstenbosch section on the way home. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
  10. Thanks for all the responses guys. Im not sure we have the time to do the full monster tomorrow morning but for sure we will do a full lap at some stage. Will let you know if we work out the green belt section (its the only part i dont know well). Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk

  12. Hi Everyone In CT for a few days and with the 2 recent openings in this nek of the woods we hoping on doing a ride linking it together tomorrow morning, i believe its possible to link some green belt into this also. But im guessing local knowlage is key with this greenbelt section, so does anyone know a group doing something simlar or a long shot have a file of roughly this route?
  13. What an crazy journey. Maximum respect to anyone who start never mind those legends that finished.
  14. Maybe I got the vision wrong but I was thinking about the first launch as the ultimate goal, a race on silly scale with super human athletes from across the disciplines doing something most of us are not sure we could even complete let alone win. There is clearly something magical about this event that has caught all our imagination. Its not that I think there should be pros and more prize money on line, its that I think these every day warriors could have their journeys captured and presented to us adding more to the above mentioned magic of the event and to give us motivation to possibly think we might be able to do something as silly. But I guess that may detract from its rawness for some people.
