  1. I didn't do it last year but I did do it this year and on a hardtail. The only real technical part I can remember was after the Cliffhanger through the trees. My hands somehow survived it but the descent was quite long. I was one of those wishing it to end until the climb started again. The rest was mostly smooth single tracks or jeep tracks and most of them was going up.
  2. Nope, this is the Postberg area. The 2 activities are from Postberg residents. You can basically ride anything before the blue line.
  3. You are allowed to cycle on the tar roads and mtb routes but not allowed to go into the Postberg area which is only open to public during flower season.
  4. Louvain Guest Farm have a few mtb singletracks but a month ago they weren't maintained at all. Wouldn't recommend these singletracks. The ox wagon trail is your best bet on the farm. Just watch out if you want to go down the other side of the mountain via Bergplaas. The road down is rocky and technical with no cellphone signal for emergencies.
  5. The part between the Theewaterskloof Dam and Viljoens Pass is a hiking trail as far as I know. Here is more realistic route altough I do not know the route from Viljoens Pass to Han se Kop well: https://www.strava.com/routes/2939519109304482104 Feel free to message me if you have any questions about the Banhoek/Boschendal/Plaiser or Berg River dam trails.
  6. I have a dropper on my 2016 Alu Anthem. Cable is routed through the down tube and exits just before the BB at the bottom and goes externally around the BB where it enters the seat tube again.
  7. Think they are closed at the moment. They removed the mtb website so can't see what's going on. Last when I check they scheduled to close on 1 Jan for maintenance.
  8. The Matoppie Loop and bottom Matoppie single track is in it's best condition at the moment as well as Snake Alley. Don't bother with the other trails which are overgrown and eroded. You can park at the gate where there is a map and snapscan barcode I believe. Have never felt unsafe parking or riding there.
  9. Not sure if this is the correct model and if they still have stock, but the price is very close to 4000. https://www.specialized.com/za/en/power-cranks-shimano-ultegra-upgrade-kit/p/157392?color=234674-157392&searchText=48118-2402
  10. Will there be a fantasy league this year?
  11. Starts at the Kogelberg nature reserve between Betty's Bay and Kleinmond. Less than a year ago it was free entrance with a wild card because it is part of Cape Nature otherwise only R10 for the day.
  12. Please post some photos MudLark.
  13. Works after you have selected either the hard tail or dual suspension category.
  14. He attacked at the left-hand turn onto the Kromme Rhee road a few km before the railway line. I was on his wheel and it was quite hectic trying to bunny hop over the railway line. Can't imagine how the group crossed it safely while trying to catch the break. Luckily the lines are perpendicular to the road and not at an angle.
  15. This is what they replied when I enquired whether it is still happening and when entries close: "We are currently watching the weather forecast and we will be making a call by the end of the day as to whether we postpone or not. Should the event happen you can enter online until tomorrow night at 12am yes. You will also be able to enter on the morning of the event as we will charge online rates not late entry fees as before."
  16. At least Barguil got a top 10 today.
  17. If you don't manage in SA and don't mind to wait a while you can always check out AliExpress.
  18. Received my seeding via email.
  19. I'm not sure how they are planning to fix it, but it is mostly only cosmetic and I accepted the damage as it is.
  20. Too much trouble for my liking. As said above the damage is done. All I wanted is a 'jammer dit was ons skuld', but I can only dream. They offered me to bring the bike back to 'match up the paint' but I feel too ashamed on their behalf to go back again.
  21. I usually service my bikes in Stellenbosch but had to go to Paarl for other reasons and thought that I would give Cycle4Life a chance. I can work on most parts of my mtb except the brakes, suspension and pivot because of my lack of tools and laziness to watch videos. Next time I'll try and do the service myself otherwise I'll give Pierre a call thanks.
  22. Yes, my bearings were quite worn, but I still believe there was a way to remove the bolt and bearings without damaging the pivot like that.
  23. Yes, I save the name and shame for when I have a solution.
  24. I had some bad service from a bike shop in Paarl today. Sent my alu Anthem in for pivot service which was long due. The mechanic scratched the pivot and it looks like he cracked the pivot bolt head in the process as well. The owner fist told me that the scratches were ther beforehand but later on advised that it can be coverd up with nail polish. How does one go about it?
  25. Received an email just now from them.
