  1. I so wish I can go back and do it again :-(
  2. Hi, I'm traveling to India (Chennai) soon and I was wondering if anybody knows of Carbon Fibre Wheel suppliers in India. Thanks
  3. I must go back for that succulent Karoo Lamb at CP4. Loved the event and looking forward to doing it again.
  4. I think we should allow cyclist to turn left even when traffic lights are red and it is safe to do show. Kinda like in Holland. "Do I have to stop for a red traffic light? Yes, like in other countries all cyclists have to stop for a red traffic light. However, there is one exception. At traffic lights with the sign ‘Rechtsaf voor fietsers vrij’, cyclists turning right don’t have to wait for the light to turn green. Do look out for pedestrians that might be crossing the road as they have right of way."
  5. Looks like its going to be a wet one :-)
  6. I've never dealt with Evo bikes before but I did not like the tone of the email you sent to your customer. It has kinda put me off your company. I would have preferred if you apologized upfront for any confusion the picture might have caused. You have missed an opportunity. Just my view point.
  7. STRAAAAAVVVVVAAAAAA !!!
  8. Going sub 6 requires more than just a lot of riding :-) Trust me I have tried.
  9. IS ther u14 and u12 league as well?
  10. Let me know if you can see this link. I can also send you Garmin files if you PM me. http://app.strava.com/activities/38016839#616904441 You should aim for sub 4 hours to get to Spur stop if you want to be in with a chance. I recon your biggest challenge will be nutrician and you must eat or be eaten. Don't leave it to late because if you fall behind the feeding curve then you will battle after spur. I plan on stopping at every water point. PM me your email address if you want Garmin files
  11. CAT 3 Team entry: Can we enter a mixed CAT 3 team consisting of Vets, Open and Lady riders or should we all be of the same sub category?

Any idea what caused it to snap? On the prologue I managed to drop my chain couple of 100 meters in. I was on 32/11 at the time. Somehow my right side crank arm manage to pickup the chain and take it off the front chain ring. Freaky and I recon the narrow q-factor also played a role !!!

I went for 156. I was able to put my cain on by myself. I did notice that it is important to get the chain link and tooth alignment correct because the narrow chain link only fits the narrow chain tooth upfront. If you don't get it right then the chain wont stay on. Stage 1 was hectic but if not for the XX1 things could have been worse i.e. broken chain, derailleur or hanger.

You will be surprised by what you can do with what you have. If I had a 42T then I would have used it but 36T was all I had and somehow you just manage. Main reasons why I went with XX1 cranks is because of the narrow q-factor and the simplicity. I'm not regretting especially the simplicity because I had no major technical issues all race.

One big thing that I like about the XX1 setup is the q-factor and hence your feet are closer together and it feels a lot more like my road bike. With my tripple XTR cranks it felt like I was pedaling like a duck with my toes out.

Just completed the Bridge Cape Pioneer Trek on my 1x10 using 32T upfront and 11-36T at the back. More than enough top and bottom end for all the stages. "If you can't find it then grind it" ;-)
  19. I'm also 1 x 10 (11-36). I'm taking 32T and 34T with. The idea is to use the 34T for the Prologue and Stage 3 but lets see how that goes.
  20. 5 more days and I will be living my dream !!! #hellyeah
  21. Apparently you can find some overlay software as well to combine your video and garmin info.
  22. Thanks BridgeSA and I'm impressed and it seems like I only need bring my legs :-)
  23. Couple of questions for those who have been there: 1. What will be available at the water points? 2. Post Race recovery drinks. Will I be able to store my recovery drink in a fridge for immediate consumption after race? I like mixing Nesquick with fresh milk for a post race recovery drink but I’m trying to get my head around the feasibility of this option. 3. What facilities will be available to charge stuff like phone or GoPro 4. What will internet access be like to keep in touch with the outside world. I guess this depends on cell phone service provider but maybe they do a HotSpot at the event 5. What would be typical stage race day…. a. Wake up and go to loo b. Eat breakfast and prep drinks c. Get dressed and pack bags d. Deliver bag to truck e. make way to start line f. Race g. Drop bike for wash h. Recovery drinks and bite to eat i. Collect bag from truck j. Shower k. Drop cycling kit for wash l. Short nap m. Check bike and lube I’m busy strategizing J and any help with these questions will be much appreciated.
