  11. Everyone is labeling the Argus as the fun ride world championships. So what then would be SA's best race? So far the Shova is top of the pops for me.

  14. You guys can count yourselves lucky. I have had servicing problems with all the local cycle shops. Latest one, have my headset and bb serviced aswell as hubs. Get my bike back. Bike still making clicking sounds. Take it back cassette was not tightned properly. Idiot me doesn't bother to check everything else. Get to ct go for a ride clicking sound back, cranks have play in them. Cue frantic calls and find out cycle city is still open. Take bike there, the bolt that tightens the crank needs two turns before the guy even felt tension on the nut. Now I paid good money to have my joke serviced why should I recieve crap work? And my next bike shop option is 300km away. So i'm kinda fooked!
  15. I had mtb pedals on my first roadbike. Felt like I was getting stud pressure on my feet much like rugby boots. Changed to 105s felt a million times more comfy and felt like more power to the pedals. Don't think pedal weight makes a huge difference. That said my look blades are at home waiting for me!
  16. Gulp I agree with Big H
  17. Eh who needs parking at GHC? I just catch a taxi from seapoint, get dropped off outside, register, cstch a taxi back to seapoint. Easy peasy
  18. It was more a question than laying blame. Since joining the hub I've lost count of how many "cyclist killed" threads I've seen. I agree with you on the light situation. I've seen so many guys with piss poor lights. I even stopped a guy once to tell him his lights were basically worthless as they were barely making a difference and he was swathed in black. Well the words that greeted me after that would've made any drunk sailor blush. And that I think is where the problem lies. People have got major chips on their shoulders. And until that attitude changes motorists and cyclists will keep dying in large numbers in SA. I understand that I stand no chance against a car or truck. My bike is lit up like a christmas tree and I wear brightly coloured kit. I keep as far left as possible. I try and hold a steady and predictable line at all times. I stop at red lights and stop streets. 2 mins lost at a red light is far better than losing my life jumping it. And I use hand signals when in town, no sure how many other guys can say that. I just hope the agro SA mentality changes and soon.
  19. ooh and if you have knobblies fit slicks!
  20. I reckon stick to the mtb. My mate rides compact gears said the only reason I beat him is my gearing 53-11 is faster than his. I ride his he rode mine, my bike killed him. Stick to what you know for now!
  21. Only got a surname of Amos.
  22. A cyclist was killed this morning in East london. 630am,bright sunshine in the midle of town on a 4 lane road. WTF is going on? Rest in peace
  23. willasdale forms part of my hill training loop. Yup chulumna far harder than the present route. Will be using it as one of many training routes over winter. But my long suffering wife will have to follow me. If you guys are keen for a hard race do the time freight kei challenge. 1400m odd of climbing over 80km
  24. That used to be the old dispatch route. Changed it because it was not safe anymore
