+1 Looked at one for the first time a few weeks ago at Crosstown. There's one in my future. Is their newest offering available yet....supposedly much lighter and offering trigger shifters...?
  5. And to think I thought that sign was just a suggestion the first time I saw it... Hahahaaa....thanks for the laugh!

In very wet conditions v's do make more sense as JB rightly states that a set of disc pads can be worn out in a single ride. As a sidenote, it must be said that the nature of the terrain plays a role here. How exactly I can't quite explain as I haven't really investigated. I have had this happen twice on 90-120minute rides in Tokai. On the other hand, my pads showed no ill effects after a pissing wet 2h30min ride on Table Mountain....? As for the stopping power argument, I will say this as long as you guys state that "enough power is enough" or more braking power is useless. The more power the brakes have, the less hand force is required to activate the brakes. Saying that if you can skid the wheel or lob yourself over the bars then you have enough power is a little short-sighted. If you don't ever suffer from forearm pump or stiff fingers from hanging onto your brakes then it makes no difference to you. Throw yourself down Plum Pudding on Table Mountain and we'll talk again. You can barely hang onto the brakes by the time you reach the bottom. I'd gladly take all the power I can get.
  7. Full face helmets and pads are for sissies!
  8. Well spotted....sadly that's not me

  11. Hey Ou Ballie....the new greases forces out the old grease and any crap in it. Klim onder daai klip uit!
  12. There was a video on MTBR last night showing the grease injection tool in action. Video seems to have disappeared though. You have to remove the crank which is a bit of a mission, but not that serious considering you won't be doing it THAT often. It's the same diameter as the spindle and slides into the cup....give it a few pumps and that's it. As with most similar applications, the new grease forces out the old grease which is then simply wiped off. Flippen brilliant!
  13. After literally years of rumours and the project being shelved as they waited for the industry to settle on a design, Chris King have finally introduced their much-anticipated bottom bracket. It won't be cheap with pricing similar to their basic headset, but it will come with the same 5 year warrenty, user servicable bearings and a grease injection tool. http://chrisking.com/bottombracket MintSauce2008-09-26 01:17:17
  14. Erm....I think you mean Tokai. Only Marius spells it 'Tokia'....we've given up on him Don't expect it to be dry though. Rode there yesterday and most of the singletrack is a mess after all the rain. Lots of water and mud around. Preferable to give it a skip for a week or two or at least stick to the jeeptrack and gravel....ie boring
  15. How does it protect the lever in a crash.....I don't see it?
  16. Supposedly makes it harder to depress them when you remove the wheel....which is not a good thing
  17. Oooh....this sounds juicy....please elaborate
  18. Custom, custom, custom

  20. When V-brakes were introduced I used them for a while with normal MTB brake levers and they were also a little spongy. It's even worse with road levers, I assume cos the travel on a road brake setup is even less. Only reason I can think of. MintSauce2008-09-17 00:50:35
  21. What annoys me is people who don't read the entire thread and then make uninformed posts like this one....tsk tsk
