Group D - 6:40 AM

I'm looking for some Argus D group riders or some advice from the experts . . .

What is the chance for a sub 3hr race? (let say in good conditions even though it's probably going to be hot and windy)

I had a good season thus far and feel good and strong.(R4S - 3h02 , Fast 1 - 2h41, Emporers - 2H38, Carnival - 2h53 with puncture),

Should I be more realistic and look at a 3h15 ?

Here is the results from the last 3 years for the winner in Group D as per Racetec

2010 - 110km - Wind

D 3:16:32 675/28989 M 627/22759 68/3192 1/359 33.58

2009 - 110km - Lots of wind

D 3:19:06 615/25718 M 563/20717 90/3092 1/375 33.15

2008 - 108 km - (I don't know weather conditions nor the route in 2008)

D 2:54:14 929/28319 M 863/22108 160/2909 1/411 37.54

I am also in D and I think the chances are slim mate. Even if by some miracle the weather is as good as '08, you still need to factor in Boyes Drive whcih will add 5 minutes, so the winner of D might just sneak in under 3. Look at 03:10-3:15.

Big JD - Are you looking at 3h10 -3h15 ? Well , I would love to be the winner of D . . . ;) ( I'm sure as hell gonna try and stick with the front of the bunch)

I am starting in E and was hoping for a sub 3, or very close to that, finishing time..... looks like 3:15 will be a more realistic time for me.....

I'll be there, unless I drop back for fear of being dropped :) Cant give you any advice though. First time for me.

The weather in 2008 was perfect - no wind, slightly cloudly, and NO WIND. Did a 5:19 on three weeks training. I'm feeling fairly fit and know that I can/should ride a good Argus this year. I'm looking at staying with the front of D - doing my share of the work :)

I'll be on a black Spez SL2 and in a Cape Town Giants jersey.

For me it's important to ride the hardest race I can - time is irrrelevant - if I can get a sub 1000 position, that'll make my day.

The biggest variable is climactic conditions, Prozac.

Wind

And, of course, your run-up to the race:

Sleep, Nutrition and State of Mind.

And then:

Technical Issues or Incidents during the race.

3h10- 3h15 would be a good bet for D!
