Congrats to the sub 3 guys, was aiming for the sub 3:30 and had a great ride, chatted to tube hunter along the way, went around the course fast and 90% of the course was on the 3:00 split time rather than the 3:30

My legs popped going down Chappies and then recovered enough to go over suiker bossie, at the top of suikerbossie 2:40 I was smiling but also very worried about the legs at this stage, it was all I vould do to ride on the left and free wheel, saw tubehunter pass me at the 10km to go mark.

Limped over the line @ 3:17 a personal best and a great time for me.

Next year hopefully I will be able to join this elite club.

@Airbender - You still haven't given anyone your time? All your talk in the run up to the Argus, I thought you would be doing a Sub 3 for sure.

Big JD,

What was your goals?

And, how did you do?

Spat,

You backed yourself. That's great.

Like most pro rider will tell you: "If you don't throw in your chips, you don't have a chance to break away and win..."

It is clear that to raise the possibility stakes of a sub 3 is to start as early up in the groups as possible.

For my group, F only raised 2 sub 3ers BY 3 SECS! :o

So, with close to ideal climactic conditions, group E or above is good bets.

03:10. The goal was not to crash so I can finally make it to Sani2C in one piece ;)

Well done on achieving your goal!

Cool!

Have a super Sani2C...

I must now wonder about my goals for next season - road.

Hmm...

Was going great guns to do a sub 3 with B bunch when I hit a cat eye and had a flat back wheel.

Finished in 3:09.

Well done to all the guys and girls who finished under 3!!

Was a great day and the weather was fantastic, hopefully next year then.......

@Panda CT Now I remember. Didn't you say to me on Boyes, "Don't get dropped!"? Where did you come overall in E? E was a terrific group. I'm guessing the top 4 riders just got away on Chappies because it was a real melee with all the other D and C riders all over the map. I made a bad mistake of not positioning myself well at the base and couldn't see them go. Anyway, happy with my time.

Congrats to everyone. Terrific ride.

Managed to come in first in group E. Good ride by all though.

Sub 3 baby! My Garmin has it at 2:57:12 (but that is unofficial). Got to the top of Suikerbossie at 2:33/34 - so from then on I knew it would be possible.

@atraut - were you in red spez kit? I was riding a Celeste and Yellow Bianchi with Metropolitan kit - was out front or towards the front of the bunch a lot. I remember a red spez kit coming past me up Suikerbossie and being in the mix until the end.

@niklasvm - nice one man!

@Stefan - I was 3rd in the climb from E bunch up Chappies. We were working hard from the beginning. I had to chuckle at the E lead rider shouting 'keep left' as we were motoring up there. Got stuck behind another E rider going up and lost touch of the front two guys. One of them was a 1st year junior rider (Josh from JHB) whose team mates were seeded in A. Flipping strong dude!

It was Joshua Buchel he is actually 14 years old, first year under 16, finished in 2h56, second in E bunch. Awesome young rider, watch this kid he is going far.
