Hi Everyone,

I have to buy some new shorts for the Joberg2C, but wonder if anyone has every used both the Assos Mille and Uno? I only have mille's, but seeing that I want to buy a fair number of shorts (not only for the stage race) but in general, would appreciate it if someone can shed some light on the differences?

Thanks,

Thanks,

I bought all 3 models two years ago for the Epic.

1 - FI.13

1 - Mille

3 - Uno's

All of them are great and well worth the cost - Im still using them today.

All three have very different chamois.

The uno is wider at the rear and thinner in front.

The Mille is longer and narrower.

My personal preference is the Mille for longer rides 4h+ and I use the Uno's for shorter rides.

After two years? Remarkable. I have some 10 year old bibs I still use.

Get saddle sores on day 2 of Epic or J2C wearing cheapo shorts & believe me the next time you'll pony up for the Assos

Not talking about cheap shorts. So what your telling me that everyone riding the epic are riding with Assos shorts that cost R3000+?

Shew, lucky I've never ridden stage races then. No, wait, I have, however did I manage it?

From observing various cyclists Assos is a spelling mistake the last s should be an L.

On a more servious note,

I have cycled on 4 day cycling holidays, on 24 hour races on 7 day cycle tours ext. I have never owned a pair of Asso(l)s. What works is a lot of cream on the bum (Baby bum butter works), a comfortable saddle (pain is caused by having a badly matched saddle) and lots of basic hygiene. Also changing shorts each day allows different chaff marks over the duration, and does help. Always remember the baby bum butter.

Harden the f^%k up. Put hours in the saddle, and you can do the epic in MR Price bibs. FFS! Bunch of girls with more money than brains.

Remember, unlike golf, you can't buy a good game on a bicycle.

What he said. Like what I said, without the acid.

I used to do 4hr rides with shorts and underpants back in the early 90s, and I'm still here. Sure, better shorts/bibs are more comfortable, but geez, Cape Storm or First Ascent are just fine. Even the relatively cheap branded Anatomic kit I have is adequate in 99% of cases.

martin, have you every ride with assos?

I used to cycle with Cape Storm or First Ascent. To compare Cape Storm or First Ascent with assos is like saying that their is no difference cycling with tubes and tubeless.

Once you cycle with assos their is no turning back (my experience) :)
