but as a motorbike rider - a law abiding rider, not indicating by a car is what kills/injures some motorcyclists, etc.

Yip, and when they turn out of side streets into your path, and my all time favorite, the illegal u-turn in front of me. Morons.

I think it has it merits, its a way of telling offenders their driving habits are uncool, confronting them head on can lead to road rage. Its not intended for prosecution so there should be little or no fear that if its is abused anything will come of it.

Well, if it got you thinking about perhaps using your indicators in future when changing lanes, then it is already a success! For all you know it will save the life of a cyclist or motorcyclist and save you a huge lot of trouble, money and guilt. So, will you modify your behaviour or are you only going to rant about the letter you got? That is the important question!

I think it can be a useful tool but it will be subjective - most people on our roads don't know the correct rules anyway :D

I would also worry on their side about building a file that can later be used to build a picture of behavior - but also a case of defamation ;)

I disagree. I think most people just don't give a f*&k about anyone or anything but their own stupid ****, laws, people, everything else can go to hell. At least that's how they seem to behave.

Has anyone received correspondence from the Road Traffic Management Corporation?

I just received a letter:

ALLEGED INCONSIDERATE, RECKLESS AND/OR NEGLIGENT DRIVING BEHAVIOUR

In the correspondence the following is noted:

1. My vehicle registration number

2. Vehicle Type, Make, Model and Colour

3. ID Number, Surname & Name

4. Date, Time & Location of Incident

This alleged offense was reported by a 'Voluntary Public Traffic Observer' and reported to the National Traffic Call Centre.

In brief the content deals with me exceeding the legal speed limit and weaving between lanes without using indicators. It further explains that the matter has been entered in there records and forwarded to the relevant traffic authority etc.

:cursing: :cursing:

I have lodged an objection to this via the e-mail provided and listed all the necessary legislation and gave my side of the story of which I will not bore you hubbers. In brief, I did not exceed the speed limit nor was I weaving between the cars. What I am guilty of is changing lanes without indicating.

(have only ever received 3 traffic fines, for parking violations, in 25yrs  )

Was wondering if any other hubbers have received such a letter and what are your views/thoughts.

Hmmm.

Well now.....

If you drive a fancy ass 6 large figure BMW, they plainly do not come with indicators - tell them that.

If you drive a Landrover Discovery, they have LARGE indicators, but a small lever placed out of hand reach when chatting on your Blueberry, so indicating is too difficult.

BMW and Landrover Discovery drivers can weave wherever they like - it is their inalienable right.

If you drive a Toyota Fortuner, are blonde, and have an Apple iPhone4, and children, then the 'flicker' is actually too much trouble. If you do manage to put down your Apple iPhone4, and put the flicker on, then you may IMMEDIATELY change lanes.

Pay up fool. Learn your lesson, use your indicators. Good god. You PAID for them after all.
