Hi guys,

Ive decided to go tubeless & want to get GEAX TNT tyres. Just not sure which combo?

Will mostly do XC riding. Stellenbosch, Jonkershoek & the rest of Western Cape.

Combo 1: Saguaro front/ AKA back

Combo 2: Saguaro front & back

Combo 3: AKA front back

All combos (26 x 2.20)

Please advise?

Thank you!

Dunno the terrain in Slaapstad but I run Saguaro front and back and I am happy. I would think AKA front if you want to mix, as isn't the tread more aggressive?

Id say Saguaro for more muddy terrain and the AKA for lose terrain? so now that CT will be raining I would say go for the Saquaro....just guessing tho as i was looking at the thread on the pics

I did an Epic on Mezcals - I love those tyres. Not the grippiest, but certainly nice and fast!

I think Saguaro/AKA on the front, and Mezcal on the back should cover most situations.

I'm keen to try out their 29er options.

I tried the Mezcal, but did not like it.

It rolls fast, but lacks grip, especially on the more technical stuff.

Fine on open hard pack roads, but that is not my thing.

Never tried it in the wet, but guess it will not be great there either.

Now running Maxxis Ignitors (UST) front and back and loving them. :)

Im also more interested in grip! Not keen to see my "gat" on the technical loose stuff! :D

People, people, have none of you ever tried the Geax Barro Mountain? Perfect for the front for mud or rocks or loose, then run the Saguaro (2.1) at the rear.

I was thinking of the Barro... But think the 26x 2.3 will be a bit big for my hardtail? Also I would like a 2.2 at the back so not sure if I can take the 2.1 Barro mountain up front?

I currently have AKA front & back.

I am not sure about the AKA's grip in front on corners with some loose sand/gravel on hardpack. (like on the farms etc)

I am considering putting the Saguaro in front for better cornering grip in the above situation.

I think the Aka's will be a faster tyre for the back

But I would also like further opinions.

it also depends on your technical skills, Evans did the epic race king front and back

If you need more grip, burro mountain front, Saquaro back, nice nice :D

The Barro Mountain and Saguaro are big volume tyres. Ie a 2.2 is similar to a Conti MT King 2.4 and a 2.00 is similar to most 2.2 UST brands.

I run 2.1 Barro up front and 2.0 Saguaro rear on my 26". Perfect for me. Running Saguaro on my 29er (no 29" Barro available yet)

Whatever you decide, these are all good tyres.
