funny u should say that. guys were ragging the weight, which is touted at just over 40lbs (~18kgs). A bike check on Gee's 2010 world cup sled had the weight at just a tad over 40lbs. he seemed to have won the overall just fine on a heavy bike.

I must admit, i think everyone goes overboard on one aspect or another, whether it be the look, the brand, and especially the weight. I say this bearing in mind something the designer of the Mondraker Summun said, something to the effect of: " it's not the bike (referring to HA, weight, colorscheme...) , but how the bike feels to the rider that makes him go faster.."

I see they're using the DH not the R DH with the linear rail system?! I wonder if Yeti will continue to make both in 2012 or just go with whatever the WC team uses?!

Do those fork stanchions have some sort of "treatment" or is it just the pic. They look gold plated or something.

Nice looking bike though, not too over the top, the gold BB and bits on the brakes and RD are nice little touches. Gotta love the Schwalbe tyre names. Reckon they should release a South African Schwalbe tyre : Groot Gert or Vuil Frik

Mackie: the gold is a special coating called Kashima, which has proven usage in the MX industry. Fox has exclusive use of the coating in the bicycle industry. Provides high scratch resistance while reducing stiction and sliding resistance.

Like Cap said, the fork stanchions have Kashima coating, which is a hard anodised finish that is available on selected Fox forks in the 2011 range.

As for the other gold bits... that's Shimano Saint for ya! I also love the stock standard gold accents on the Saint stuff. Pity my wallet doesn't
