Yes PLEASE. I think its someone else's turn to go past there and do an inspection and provide an update :)

You should be running! Why so desperate to prepare for a deluge?

hey

the bestis to look at your turns and to make sure you are breathing in patern which will make you save atleast a minute because the lesser you can breathe offen the better your time and the faster your time. also get hand paddles and fins to work on strength don,t go gyming because the muscles are different!

Set your goals each week and also remember swimming straight set won't help much rather do heavy repeast over 100m or 50m

:o That's not like the Mr H that I know!! Maybe he's gone into hibernation

Me thinks Mr H knows I am on the mend after 2 weeks of nursing a hammie and he probably thinks I am not fast enough as yet and in all probability he is right. So I suppose best I get out there and raise the speed and fitness level so when he does make an appearance I may be able to keep up :)

Roy at Linden is quite good at raising the speed levels from zero to super fast in 6-8 weeks. After 4-6 weeks of training I can generally do a 1.9K swim in 30 minutes. So thats not that fast and there are definitely guys half my age faster than me. But 30 mins for 1.9k open water swim is plenty good for me. fins, paddles etc etc I have it all and certainly no time for gym as well I like triathlon but its not an obsession .... I think

Went past Linden yesterday afternoon. Tiling is all done. Painting done. Paving not yet done. Spoke to the contractor he said they would probably be ready to fill the pool next week sometime. BUT in all probability they are still at least 2 weeks away from being open.

Who is Roy? Does he run a Master squad? Details please.

+1

I'm looking for a Masters squad closer to the illovo area, possibly working at Old Eds if anyone has any info.

Ex-swimmer here... had a good chuckle getting a triathlete's view of the sport :)

Any ideas what the operating hours will be when it's open? I'm keen to get back in the water, and maybe even do a bit of coaching once I've determined if I still remember how to swim lol

So I have not seen the local Linden paper but I am told the pool is definitely opening in 2 weeks time as published in the paper.

I had my first winter session at Ellispark yesterday. Must say swimming in a 50m pool is quite something. After not having swum for 3 months I could barely lift myself out of the pool. Legs and arms did not belong to me. Just a pity the area around Ellispark is dodge and so is getting there. Really glad its only a temporary measure until Linden is up and running again.

Anyway Roy says in two weeks time we resume master squad training at Linden Monday, Wed and Fri. Think it will be 17h30 for an hour. Fees are R1200 for 3 months which is very reasonable. You can get hold of Roy at (073)838-8384
