mankind has to keep trying new things, test the boundries, invent..... 25 years ago the mtb owes were probably locked in debate over whether mtb's need suspension forks???

i'm glad there is constant change, cause that old bridgestone i used to ride to school on was crap compared to my current bike!!!! which happens to be a 29er!!!

I'm starting to wonder about the "intelligence" of mountain bikers?

Not even the speedo clan got their nickers in such a knot when some "not so clever" loon started with 650C wheels for triathletes.

Maybe it was because the hub was not around in those days

Take advantage of what you have. Yes, 29'ers roll faster over the rocky stuff...So it will work well at Sabie but it will be a waste at Babbas.

BULL!!!

Last year we had two races at Babbas that was one week apart. First week I did the 70km on my 26" Merida 96. The following week on my new 29" Giant. Improved my time with 45 minutes!!! Conditions, etc. was exactly the same and I did not get that much fitter in one week.

Beat that! .... and first experience both type of bikes for a while before you can be concidered as "knowing enough" to make comments on a 29er.

I will NEVER go back to 26".

Shame, can't you afford one right now? :)

You have ridden one? I presume you have, that would be the only way you would know, for sure, it is all a conspiracy?

What a ******** thing to say!

You did the exact same race two weekends in a row? Why?

No. I'm going to bone his dog. Then take his bike.

Oi, you threatened to do that to my dog a while ago. He's still miffed that you didn't offer to take him out to a movie and dinner first. Oh, and my dog doesn't have a bike yet. He's eyeing out a 29er. He decides on bikes by lifting his leg...

Anyhows, off to the Cycle Park now with my big wheeler.

By the way, judging how good a bike format is on one race weekend is kinda silly, no?

Forget to mention, I do own a 6.5kg Tarmac also, so I might as well keep the Stumpy.

Andre what compact bars are those on your Tarmac?

Hi Eraser, it is FSA K-Wing Compact. Awesome bars, I like the flat top and the bit of raise they offer. Very comfortable!
