If there are two things I love in this world, it’s whimsical robots and fixed-gear bikes. Put together, they’re better than I could have ever imagined: This little robot rides around on its miniature bike balancing without training wheels.

The bot can even steady the bike with his legs when it's not riding around, so you don’t have to pick it up or give it a push to start it. When it wants to stop, it just sticks its legs out and uses its feet as a friction brake, bringing the bike to a skidding stop. The little hipster bot can wave at onlookers too--provided he comes to a stop first--but hopefully it’ll be able to ride without holding on to the handlebars before long.

The bot was made by a Dr. Guero, and after a quick Google around the Internets, it looks like he used this hobbyist-graderobot you can get online. Of course Dr. Guero had to hack and modify it to make it into the pro cyclist it is today.

Google doesn’t translate his site particularly well—it turns out to be mostly gibberish—but you can check it out if you want to see for yourself. Doesn’t the little bot make you think of a baby transformer that hasn’t gotten its transforming license yet?

Awesome.

Just don't make him ride anywhere near PE, Tableview or Cape Point. With those disc-wheels of his, he'll get blown to kingdom come!
