Does anyone know how to remove the rear shock from a Commencal?

I undid the bolts, but can't get the shaft out of the frame.

you need to remove all air from the shock first, that will release pressure from the bolts allowing them to be moved out of the mounting sleeve and allowing you to move the shock.

Yeah.

Unlike RobMac there, I didn't want to recommend taking a BIG Hammer to a SHAFT, until fully understood!

I get you! I just realised the BIG H is short for BIG Hammer and they both pretty much had the same end result...

Wow, this escalated quickly... And SHAFT was way before my time!

Ok, here is my problem: the "shaft" looks like this (to me). It's like they bent the frame around the thing to get it in.

I don't know how to get it out.

Asked my good friend Google and found this:

Shock Removal

Seemed to work for them...

Aaah, so there's another shaft within the shat(!?!) that comes out?

Looks like it. I would double check with your LBS mechanic to make sure. The shock they spoke about was a RP2. Yours doesn't look like a RP2. What's the reason for taking it out? Judging by the rest of the bike you could be building up another frame with those components...?

Hey Rydogg, this is what the bolt looks like...

To get the bolt out, unscrew one side of the bolt a bit and then tap it with a rubber mallet or similar. So, in the pic below you'd hit the bolt on the left hand side and it'll slowly make its way out.

Sorry for the k@k quality pic.

There is no need to release the pressure from the shock, unless maybe the shock is stuck down.

Why do you want to remove the pivot bolts BTW?

<edit to add> the little black things on the end of the hex screw come off. All the bolts in the linkage are the same, they only vary in length.
