There was definitely a stuff-up with group F on the 35km. I started in group C and wasn't riding that slowly . But then all of a sudden we had most of group F to pass  . This really messed things up when we got to some of the more technical obstacles.

My take on the Lionman 2011 (my first marathon - whoop whoop!) was Great ! I enjoyed the good mix of fast flowing dirt road, obstacles, crazy tough climb, Evin crazier downhill, and the now and then mud bath... I think is impossible to make everyone happy. Its what you make of it, sure the climb was barely ride able but there were guys who could do it. That makes me want to train more, so next time ill be one of them! The one thing that i don't enjoy is when some guys dismount for stupid easy obstacles. I realize everyone aren't on the same level but that is the one thing i found a tad bit irritating.

Well done Lionman Race organizers. Hope to see you next year.

Great event overall, super tough climb, seriously hair-raising downhills that were loads of fun.

Water points well stocked.

But I did lose my sense of humour on that first climb.

Anyone know where we can get the race pics?

Dude, massive respect if you had the legs and juice to climb the whole of that last "Vodacom hill" without taking a little breather. However, if that is the case then maybe you didn't ride the rest of the race hard enough :P

Also I doubt you can call yourself "Hefty" if you're sub 90kg ;)

Ha ha thx man. I just felt so dam good. Not sure why. The name Hefty does not come from what I weigh but from the little blue smurf with the heart tattoo on his biceps.

If I could peddle with my arms i could probably go faster :-)

Defnitely need better spacing of water points, (35km) I didn't use either of the 2, the 1st was to early and the 2nd to close to the finish imo

But the beer at the finish was a refreshing change, not that I drink beer :(

And then with some groups taking a "shortcut" caused bottlenecks on some of the narrow sections, this was also due to a later start and spacing being changed to only 2 minutes, rather then the original planned 5 minutes. The organisers should take responsibility here, and hopefully learn, though this is not their 1st Lionman...

"shortcuts" should have marshalls...

The wide dirt roads were pleasant and fast, though the "corrugated iron" made passings a bumpy ride at times.

With the latest results publish they mentioned they added 10 min to E & F groups, but from this sounds like G might also be affected..., also I do not see time differences between the proviusional results before adjustment & the results with the comnment added.

In short my biggest complaint were the bottlenecks, even with most of the route being wide dirt road... Oh well done and dusted.
