Which bib shorts?

Anatomic Racer bib all the way!

The lycra and chamois are imported so you get the quality of an imported bib without the 40% markup for import duty...

South Africans always love their fancy brands though dry.gif

BTW, imported fabrics and seat pads are also subject to import duties.

You do get imported bibs like ETXEONDO for less than 1 K.

I must say, I've recently received a pair of Anatomics with the blue padding and it feels nice. Just a pity the leg grippers are crap. After one wash and the sticky snot is already coming off.

I have First Ascent, Specialized and Giordana bibs and I prefer Giordana by a country mile. The other two brands doesn't come close.

Once you've tried bib shorts....you'll never wear normal shorts again, trust me.

You should probably wash at a lower temperature?? I wash my kit at 35deg and they last for ages...

Because you don't have a to tie a string around your waist that is so tight it cuts off your circulation to your lower body. There is nothing in it, except doing to the loo, that makes it uncomfortable.

I wash mine on a hand wash cycle in cold water. Just like I've been washing my Cape Storm and First Ascent for the past 6 years. All on their own load without softener.

I've been thinking about buying a pair just to try out. Currently I have two First Ascent cycling shorts and Indola Baggies, and their "padding" is starting to wear out a bit. Still good for short races and training sessions though

My experience: Did the Epic on 2 pairs of FA shorts (brand new) and a bib (new-ish). No worries whatsoever. Then recently they all started chafing me badly. Turns out the padding is a laminate of various foam thicknesses glued together and this came undone. So now before every ride I have to spend 20min trying to sort out the padding that has crumpled up into one corner of the chamois. Not ayoba at 4:30 in the AM. On one I ended up cutting a small slit and pulled out the padding. Seems to have helped, but ja, there is no way I can do an 3h+ ride on these any more, and they lasted just over a year. The Anatomic I have (also did the Epic from a well ridden in state) has done a wack better against considerable more abuse. Would recommend them above FA.

Send it back to them. They replaced two pairs of mine when the padding material started separating.

I contacted FA for this same reason. The padding on my shorts are doing the same thing. They will try and blame you for using fabric softeners, which we never do.

They told me to take it to my LBS and they will send it back to FA. The LBS reckons they have lots of these comebacks and FA is good at replacing them. Mine have 2 tears on the lycra which my wife repaired. They might have an issue with that. Normally on my older FA shorts and bibs the chamois outlasted the lycra. Now it is the other way round. I have a new pair of FA shorts which I bought 2 weeks ago. I have not used it and the labels are still on. If FA gives me Sh#t, I will exhange those for something else at the LBS. Cannot spend R400 every 8 months on a new pair of cycling shorts which I only use on long rides on weekends.

Just another note from me....I looked around doing pricing on First Ascent shorts as well as bibs and was amazed to see that Cycle Lab's prices are among the cheapest?

FIRST ASCENT DOMESTIQUE SHORTS R418

Endurance bibs 545

Evolution Bibs 727

This is about as far as I would go

could this be true, want to go and see what Solomons has to offer. Where do you guys buy?

first ascent are known to give you a 50 50 chance of fitning properly and feeling right, not quite sure why but thats what i picked up from posts about this topic in the past.
