Hi All

I am looking at getting insurance for my bike.

I would like to insure it against theft and damage.

Must cover training and races, in SA and abroad.

Any recommended insurance companies I can call to get quotes?

Value of the bike R30K

It would be great if I could get an idea of what you are paying so I know if I am getting ripped or not?

Thanks

If you have Private banking with Nedbank they offer a very good insurance facility, with preferential rates. (Grebel gave me heads up on that)

If not, you can get in touch with Cyclesure directly.

BUT...the key to all of this is the fine print, that’s where the devil sits!

Included my bike with household + car insurance.

R25k insured for theft, damage, training and races (NOT ABROAD!) for just under R100p/m (through broker - SANTAM).

No experience with cyclesure, but search the hub and you'll find a rant (approx 2 months ago) about them not paying out.

Otherwise MiWay gets good reviews. Good luck

I heard complaints in the past that Miway will not insure your bike on its own. They only insure bikes if part of your household goods.

Things may have changed though.

I'm with Indwe (Santam), their prices were the best and their service is brilliant. I've had one bike related claim and they paid out within 24hours of me lodging the claim. No questions asked.
