Hi All

I've just spent 9 hrs on my behind doing the DC.  I have entered for the Burger but I am noit sure how to handle this week.  Should I take a complete break to recover?  Two of my buddies said they suffered after their first DC last year as they had only done mileage training, no speedwork.  Any advice would be appreciated.

What ever you do, it?s to late now.

R & R.

If you feel like it, do a couple of short rides, just keep the legs ticking over.

Just what I was gonna say.

You arent going to get any fitter this week, but you will certainly make yourself more tired.

I am doing 3 short rides just to loosen my legs a bit.

I will probably drop down a few groups on Sunday as well...

You should have recoved from the DC by Sunday, just do a few light rides, take it easy on Sat. I will ride tonight and friday for 1 to1 1/2 hour each.

I would ride at 60 - 75% throw in a few short sprints but dont do any intervals.

Thanks guys

Splat - your short rides that you are going to do - how short and will they be high intensity?  Are you including sprints?

I would stick to 60-90 mins and keep intensity low with a few jumps and surges to "open" the legs.

Sounds like Foe Fighter and Bikemax have it covered.

At the moment, I do not feel like I am capable of any high intensity anything and intervals are not really part of my vocab.

I think Sunday's ride is going to be very interesting...

I foolishly tried to do some intervals this morning.  Big mistake.  Managed one and then felt pap onthe second and went home.  Prolly a good thing I stoppped.  Going to take it VERY easy the next two days.  Hope I am going to be OK to conquer Old Hels....

DC is a big load - more so because most guys do not get near this distance except for this race. An easy week is a must after this.

My guess is that as long as you "open" the legs (sorry to sound course) a day before the race with some short but fairly hard jumps and surges, that you will race well and benefit from the "dose" that DC has given you.

Good luck all.

Don't worry tjommies, you guys (and oh yes sorry, ladies) are all humble and underplay your ability.  I'll see you all sunday!!!!!!!!  and well done on finishing the DC as a WHOLE team.
